Is the battery covered under warranty

Over the last month or so, the car has failed to start 3 times because the battery is not holding a charge. Today I was listening to the radio for about 40min while my wife was spending my money in a store. When I went to start the car, all I got was the click, click, click. luckily, we carry a set of jumper cables so I was up and running in a few minutes.I think I should be able to listen to the completely stock radio for 40mins and not kill the battery. I have done it for over 4 hours in the z/28 while I washed/waxed/cleaned it with no problems. If I take the car into Pontiac, will they replace it free of charge under the 3year/36k mile warranty???Thanks!

I believe the battery is covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Thanks djb383. My guess is that the dealer is going to see that I have 33,800 miles on the car and say there is nothing wrong with it. Yeah, the car starts and the battery tests good but if it sits for 2 weeks or leave the radio on for half hour or leave the doors open while detailing the inside ~ the battery is crap.

yes the battery is covered but in most causes there needs to be a cause of failure. Example being I got mine replaced under GM warranty but the battery was leaking acid. Other times it could require a test. If it passes the test but doesn't seem to hold a charge if it sits a while, make sure they test it after it sits a while. Otherwise if you drive in and they test it right away, it could test fine. Have a starter/charging and draw test performed.

yes the battery is covered under warrenty. A week after I bought my Vibe the battery went bad... took it back to the dealer and they replaced it no charge. They said it had a bad cell. I haven't had a problem with the battery since.

I just got back from the Pontiac dealer. The battery was bad. They replaced it with another junky AC Delco........I'll probably be replacing it in 2 years. Its no wonder GM is no longer #1.

If it was free then all is good (even if it is for only another 2 yrs)

For others out here, keep in mind that a simple thing like an alarm can drain the battery quicker than we think. It's always on when we turn it on.
