Adjusting the Rear Drum Brakes

I know they are "self-adjusting". But, believe me, in all the years I've been driving with, so called, self adjusting brakes, they have never worked for me. I've tried backing up and slamming on the brakes. But nothing works better then that old tried and true method of pulling the drums, spraying some brake clean to get all the crap out of the rear drum assembly, inspecting the brake linings and manually moving that tumbler to get the drum drag on the lining just right. I do this twice a year when I swap the Snow Tires with the "All-Seasoned" tires. It makes sense to do this now since more than half the job is taking the wheels off the car anyway. There might be a way to adjust the drum brakes from the rear of the backing plate, but I like to see the condition of the linings before I adjust the brakes. You will not only notice better braking performance, but your E-Brake takes only 2 clicks to engage.
