Yeah, the Vibe comes with one.But you want a Cold air intake, or a Short ram intake for more power than stock.Cold air intake increases upper range horsepower and short ram intake is better on the lower rpm's.Cosmo, injen are good starting points.

Welcome! Yes but I don't think there are any aftermarket options out there. I'd go with what Kev said. A better intake is a good reasonably cheap first performance mod.Try using the search feature to find out more. There lots of info on here but feel free to ask any questions and we'll try and answer them

The stock intake manifold on a base vibe (1zz engine) is made of plastic, so you cannot get it bored out There are no after market intake manifolds to my knowledge. Do what kevera and ano_vibe said though and get a cold air intake or short ram intake. Also look into exhaust headers, magnaflow cat back to match that. Welcome to genvibe by the way!

Thanks for the Warm Welcome! I was just wondering this because there is an item on ebay for sale, its an intake manifold.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem So my base vibe already comes with this?? Right?

Yup yours already has that if you have a base vibe. The vibe GT has metal headers (silver pipes). Base vibes has the black plastic ones like those. That one is the stock one that comes on the car, and i cant find any performance ones made for our cars :/

Would Injen be better than cosmo's cold air intake? Do you really feel the hp gain from having an intake. Is there a good advantage having one? Does your car get loud?

the car will be much louder upon excelleration.you won't really feel the increase much if at all.

It all depends. The injen is easier to install. It gives a noticeable increase in hp,by my (removed) dyno, and it does make a bit more noise, but not too much. But what year Vibe do you have?

Then in that case do you recommend getting one?

It's up to you. It's the best bang for the buck. It's usually the first mod people do.Injen is much more expensive than Cosmo.Or look in the "for sale" section here for a used one.

Looking at pictures the 1ZZ and the 2ZZ look about the same size, so would the intake manifold from a 2ZZ bolt up to a 1ZZ?

i will be selling my Injen CAI some time this week.and i dont think that the 2zz manifold will fit the 1zz

the heads on the 2zz are way different than 1zz, so they wont match up That vid i posted earlier in the thread with the TRD cold air intake is about the same sound you'll get with any cold air intake (injen , cosmo, etc). I just decided to get TRD parts to kinda keep with the toyota theme of the engine and because they are quality parts. I bought my TRD cai off matrixowners used for about $110. Just cleaned the filter and on it went and its worked great for almost a year now

As NorthVibe said. The 2zz manifold will not fit on a 1zz.The 2zz manifold is bigger than a 1zz,and the head is different.

Poo....So no one makes aftermarket intake manifolds for the 1ZZ. Does anyone sell a do it yourself kit for making your own? I hate the idea that our intake manifolds are plastic.

Plastic intake is far superior to metal.......way less heat absorption, much lighter and smoother inside.

Ive only seen a 1zz IM break because of a over shot of NOS and it some stayed in the IM and then blew up the IM. Otherwise even SC'd the 1zz IM is good. They only way to get a aftermarket one would be to have someone fab you them, be costly unless you know people . As far as I know though the 1zz IM flows good, if you really want to get that sucker flowing naturally asperated,Do exhaust headers and full exhaust upgrade. cold air intakeand if your brave, do internal engine parts, valves, pistons, crank etc. from monkeywrenchracing.

Didnt think about the fact plastic is smoother than metal, thats a good point. I've already done the CAI, exhaust is on the way. Turbo or NOS will be next.We bought a 07 Mini Cooper S last weekend, so now my wife is hooked on speed. She backed away from putting a turbo in the vibe a couple months ago, but I think i could pull it off now even though I should not be allowed to own anything boosted. Speed makes me more giddy than a Catholic priest in room full of alter boys.

If you have an auto tranny you have a base Vibe. And the auto can have a supercharger or turbo.Seems kind of high for a used set of coil-overs.There is a group buy on coil-overs from neverenough.com.
