Factory HU - broken for a few minutes

When I got in the car last night the radio was on when I started it. I let the car idle a few seconds, started backing up then the sound went away. At first I thought it was just the station because the radio was still getting power. I tried all the other stations and there was no sound. I put in a CD and it loaded it and the play time on the CD started counting up, it would let me change to other songs, etc but still no sound. So I drove the few minutes to where I was going, got out and left the car for about 30 minutes and when I came back and started the car I had sound again. Anyone else have this problem?

I don't remember anyone posting about a problem like that before. Hopefully it won't happen again. do you have the moon & tunes (or sun&sound) package? and that pic in your sig, 5K rpms at 80 kph, it's time to shift

I have just the basic 4 speaker stereo. It hasn't done it the last few times I drove the car. It was pretty strange when it happened. I hope something isn't loose somewhere.

check all the connections on the back of the radio..no need to check the speakers cause if one was loose..u'd hear nothing out of just that speaker

Well it happened again on the way home. I was driving and then the radio started getting a lot of static then it cut out. Just to see, I turned the car off, turned it back on and the radio came on again but there was a lot of static. I switched over to CD and even with the CD playing it wasn't very clear so I turned the volume all the way down and I could still hear static coming through the speakers with the sound down. Then after a few seconds it cut out again. Repeated what I did above (i.e. turning off the ignition and it came back on for a few seconds after starting the car back up but again, lots of static and it cut out after a few seconds. If I have a chance this weekend I'll take out the deck and check the connections back there.

I'm having problems with mine too. Half the display has gone off. I have an '06 as well. Pretty bogus for a stock sound system to screw up so soon. I've had 20+ year old cars with working radios.

If all your connections are good, then it may be time for a new deck.

I brought the car in this morning to the place that installed my speakers. Got them to tighten up the front right one since it was rattling, and got them to check the front left one since that's where all the static was coming from. Turns out that one of the wires came off and was shorting against the body.

That's good,at least it was something simple.
