i was told i should get a pop charger for my 04 vibe gt. is jwt the only company that makes pop chargers and does anyone know if they make them for the 2zz? i looked on their website and i didnt see any.
they dont make that specific one for the vibe. It looks similar to a weapon r, secret weapon filter. Overpriced in my opinion but here it is on ebayhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemOtherwise it looks very similar to a BOMZ ebay short ram intake which is pretty darn cheap, found here:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemthats for a vibe GT i see so make sure to get the one for your engine 1zz or 2zz. I have a TRD cold air intake and love it, some people like short ram, but I wouldnt switch out my TRD cai for a short, i love it
Im burn out from school and my memory is shot but i thinkSR = more torqCAI = more top end hp? think thats it, also with SR after your engine bay warms up your start sucking in hot air unless you have the ram air hood or are piping cold air to the filter from the fender/fog light area. Both sound awesome, ive heard SR is louder but that could be just because its cloaser to the cabin. my trd is freaking sweet, here i have a vid of it:http://videos.streetfire.net/s...5.htmThats my car the day I installed the TRD (only mod for intake, with stock exhaust )
Ya, Short-Ram tends to give you more low-end torque whereas the Cold-Air gives you more power in the mid-range up to the high-end. The short-ram will give you more of a lower sound and may be louder since it is closer to the windshield (as aforementioned). The CAI will give you more of a sucking/blowoff sound at high RPMs. Either way I recommend a synthetic filter. They do not require oiling. I found that oil can mess up your MAF sensor and eventually dirty up parts on your throttle body. AEM makes one called the DryFlow filter.
It looks like that "pop" charger is designed with a "second skin" that has soem room between it, to allow a different chamber of flowing air, and mixes it together just before the manifold.... I fail to see the benifit, but I can see as to why they are claiming it's better and costs more... maybe that adds something, changes the flow or something and helps add more power or force behind the air.... who knows, but I think you would be better with a CAI or pay $100 for a real name brand Short Ram.
yeah theres only so much air that can be sucked in, idk if i see the reason for |/| shape, if there was a gain it would be so minimal that you could not tell. My trd filter is still working great, its oiled but as long as you let it dry out before installing it , the oil wont clog up the maf. over oiling is the main issue.
