Doesn't GPS make it's own speed calcuations? What's the connection with the VSS? I use TomTom to verify the inaccuracy of my Vibe's speedo.

Many GPS systems installed in vehicles have a 'dead-reckoning' mode for situations where there is no reception from the satellites (say inside a tunnel or parking garage, or just due to tall buildings in urban canyons). Using a magnetic sensor for the approximate heading and the VSS connection for the vehicle speed they can continue to update the position for awhile until the satellite signals are reacquired.Sorry, no idea where the wire is in the Vibe.

Thanks, found it over on avic411.com forums, then here...makes me feel a little better that it was the same info at both places. Got everything installed and working great!
