I know this issue has been discussed ad nauseam but I figured I would post anyway just to make sure I know everything I need to know before trying to fix these imperfections. Like many, I have some paint chips on the hood as well as on my door edge guards. I also have various scratches that need to be taken care of. My first question is, I know I need a clear coat applied after I apply the touch-up paint but do I need a specific kind or will anything work? I know very little about paint repair and this will be my first time doing it. Should I get the clear coat from the dealer or is it something I can pickup at Wal*Mart or Auto Zone or something? Here's my plan of action. Let me know what I'm missing or what I should know before I start: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------->1. Buy touch-up paint from dealer. 2. Buy Mother's Paint Chip Repair. Will help evening out lumps and bumps created by touch-up paint. 3. Runny paint is great for chips. 4. Application brush size of 5/0. Very small brush. Check arts and crafts store.5. Apply 3-4 coats of color, then 2 coats of clear. Ensure each coat is dry before applying the next coat. Note: Big mistake is trying to use the brush that COMES WITH the touch-up paint. Do not paint in just 1 heavy coat. Thin multiple coats and keep the touch-up paint INSIDE the chip. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------->The supra is all information gathered from here (thanks.) So tell me, what am I missing, what should I know, can you recommend any products? Thanks!
