I just had a scrather of a question awhile back my GT picked up a tick in it only under load, and the car through a code so i took it in and it said it was a catalitic converter that needed replaced, so i replaced it and, still the ticking was there. So after awhile realized that the only thing it could be was the donut seal comming off the exaust manifold into the down tube after inspection its spring loaded, and made to rock with the motor, so the cat did fix the code problem and mind you the car just turned 105 k so may be close to being dew. But the replacement of a 22$ seal fixed the ticking right up just curious if other Gt owners may have had this problem although i may be ahead of a few people in the mileage dept but if this happens this is your culpret,From the normal wear of the motor rockin back in worth and the GT's really twist some rpms just wore this seal down enough to give it an eaxust leak and you will notice a little loss of power aswell runs way better now

Hello high revin,I guess I had noticed an issue similar to that but not so much lately. I posted in the "Favorite memory of your Vibe" thread about driving with 4 other people in my Vibe when it was only a month or 2 old. I do remember there being some rattle in what seeemed to be the exhaust when I had those people in there but only on a bumpy road. Highway 35 in that part of Ohio was very bad at the time.I have since hauled several hundred pounds of landscaping bricks and several bags of rocks (on separate occasions) and not sure I noticed the rattles. Might have been there but the local roads weren't quite as bad as that highway. Never threw a CEL though. Maybe your seal was not all that good in the first place... Or maybe I was just lucky.Dave

My GT's exhaust seems to have developed a rattle. It resonates right around 3000 RPM. Can't see that anything is loose.

I actually think I am having the same problem and have thought of the same part. I have an 03 gt with 107K and I have the same ticking sound from under the car, varying in severity depending on how hot the car and day is, and scaling with rpm. I also have a louder "honking" resonation when at around 4000rpm, more pronounce with the ac on. At first I thought it was valve noise when I heard the ticking, but with the hood up, but the engine sounds the same as the day i bought it. I can hear the resonation a little while under the hood, but not nearly as much as when inside the car driving it. Time to order that part. Thanks for the post. p.s. What year is your GT? i keep reading on these forums that the lift on peoples GTs hits at 6800. nope, mine starts at 6000. i know they upped it in later years, but people with 03s are saying 6800. if that is the case, then i feel lucky that i got one with a 6000rpm lift.

I think there is more than one lift but the most noticeable is at 6800 on mine.

What was the process in changing the seal. Do you have a drawing or exploded view drawing or know where I could get one. I am having the exact same problem as you had, this is the second time around for me. Dealer changed it under warrenty last time.
