While waxing my White Vibe, I noticed pin point rust spots uniformly along the location just below the rear hatchback glass.I claybared the area, but the spots are still there.I have 35450 miles on the car, I consider this corrosion, anyone know if I can get it covered under warranty? This is a California car.Wonder what other places I may have rust.Gonna go to the dealer tomorrow.Any thoughtsThis is a 2005 model. The best way to deal with this is complete strip down to metal, primer then paint.Share your experiences.

Good luck, but, more than likely, a dealer will not do anything about surface rust. They only guarantee against perforation.Sucks, don't it ?

I took the Vibe to the dealer, they convinced me that the spots were actually "rail dust". Do a google search, it is fairly common .And, pretty obvious on white cars. I would guess that it is very difficult to see on darker colored cars. They took a claybar to the spots, and with enough rubbing, the spots came out.The spots are basically , small metal particles that embed themselves in the surface of paint. They rust and little by little corrode further and deeper.option 1 is to take an acid to the paint to dissolve the metal or option 2 is to clay the heck out of the area. And, of course, wax your car often
