This may be a silly question, but as I was driving tonight, I accidentally bumped the dimmer switch on the left of the dash. I noticed that it is no longer lit. My question is, is the dimmer switch normally back-lit? (lights on at night, should it be lit up?)I almost crashed twice messing with it and have searched aimlessly for night pics or videos and I have not found my answer yet. Thanks for the help.

nope, it would be useful to have that be backlit, but it isn't, it never lit up before. The good news is that yours is not broken

I always found it odd that essentially everything left of the wheel is dark at night. One thing I gotta fix is the Auto button on my window, it lights up about as bright as a 5 year old glow in the dark sticker. Very dim. Not to mention get rid of that greenish white light on the shift selector and replace with a red LED.

whelan - yeah someone on genvibe sent me a bulb condom (red one) to put on the shifter bulb, but I havent had time yet...or remmeber where I put that bulb jacket to try it. It would look way better red.As for the topic at hand, yea its not back lit, which sucks. At night I dim my speedo down so I dont get a lot of glare so its hard to find it at times

At night I go down from the brightest and then down a bit more just below the second level of dim. Works perfect for no glare. I am getting a red LED to replace that as soon as I can find the bulb #

Thank you so much for the info! Saved me $28 from Pontiac or $95 from Toyota.
