A question from a new Vibe owner...

Hi all. We just purchased a used 2006 Vibe and are unable to open the gas filler cover oroperate the winshield washer. We have no owner's manual and we filled up the windshield washer reservoir... could it be a fuse? Any help is appreciated. We thought after we came inside from our bitter cold winter night that it might be a safety feature that you could only open the gas filler cover when the engine was not running? We are confused... Hope this has happened to someone out there. Thanks again for any suggestions.Regards,Gordon

The gas cap door opens by pulling the lever on the floor at the left front area of the driver's seat. You should be able to pop the door open when the car on or off. Now if its frozen you may need to have someone pull on it while you pull the release lever.Pull the wiper lever towards you to turn on the washers. If nothing comes out, listen for a wiper washer motor to come on. If your hearing nothing it could be a fuse or motor issue. Depending on your KM on the car it should be under warranty. Take it into a dealership for repairs. Welcome to GV.

Many thanks for the "newbe" help. I will have to run a quick check as you have pointed out for the windshield washer motor. The Vibe has only 12,000 miles on it so, I suppose the warranty should cover any major fix - if necessary. Thanks again for your assistance. What a great forum.Enjoy your Vibe, as we are planning to with ours.Cheers,Gordon

Thanks a bunch for the link to the owner's manual (2006 version). We checked with a Pontiac dealer and they wanted $50 for a replacement. Yikes!Cheers,Gordon

I am glad that they could help.... but let me tell you, I think the #1 nubiew question in my opinion (mainly cause it confused me for a while) is how to turn the brights on.... push the knob away from you to turn them on.... pulling it twards you only flashes the high beam....Good luck with the Vibe, I know you will love it.

My Saturn was the pull back and click one, both my Civic and MAtrix are push forward for on, pull for flash. Also if you filled your tank recently the lines could be forzen. Don't run the motor too much if you hear it cause you can burn it out and break it. Did that on my Civic is was a $60 part for that little motor and I had to take off my bumper to get to it.

GordonI would suggest that you buy some fog light covers (sold by a member) to save the glass on these. (I do not profit from this suggestion, just want to highlight that this is an item that is expensive and frequently broken. Additionally, you may want to Scotchguard the fabric (if you do not have leather) as it will easily stain.
