I tapped into the amp speaker output wiring under the passenger seat. I have the moon and tunes package and I see you do as well. If I recall when I installed it a couple years ago I ran into a problem with the wiring diagram not quite matching up. If you would like, I can try to get a picture of my wiring when I get a chance later. It was an easy install. I ran a lead from the battery, through the firewall, under the driver side door trim pieces, to the trunk. I grounded the amp to one of the rear tie down bolts and slightly modified the Bazooka mounts to mount onto the cargo track. It was easy and didn't require drilling any holes into the car.

I wouldn't mind that for an idea. I would worry though, that it would then change the impedance for the output on the amp, making it work harder, and get hotter.... How long has your system been hooked up, and how does it sound?

I should have been more specific, my Bazooka has a built in amp with high and low level inputs. I'm assuming you were thinking I had a passive Bazooka. I installed it according to Bazooka's instructions and as others on here I have done as well with similar sub installs. I installed the Bazooka a couple years ago and it sounds great, has plenty of bass for me. It has also been very reliable, being that I installed it in my first car 8 years ago.

You are right, lol. I shouldn't have assumed huh? I guess with the built in amp it would work... what kind of price does one run? (I will search, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask what you guys paid.)

Man, that was a long time ago, but I think they sell for around $300. Back then, they had cheaper models which had a weaker amp and then they had the higher powered series, which I bought. I haven't looked at them in years, so I don't know what has changed. Here is a link to my post I made after installing it, you'll find pics there.

Awsome, thanks for the help Justin. I will probably have a weaker one. all I need is soemthing to give my sound a little extra "Umph" inside the car. I don't need it "Booming" or even able to hear outside of the car (all though that would be fun).Either way, thanks for all your help. I will let you know if I get one or what I find while searching.

sweet thanx guys got it back in now...the amp thats built in is so weak that when i first used the RCA Cables you couldnt even hear it, i bought a cheap 50 buck one from walmart and has never let me down and sounds fantastic! You can hear it outside the car, but only if turned to the max, and it unbearible on the inside to listen to. Having a trunk is better for BOOM BOOMN

I don't mean to revive an old thread, but Iam doing this addition to my stock stereo system now. I have the power cable run to the rear, the ground cable hooked up. Where exactly did you guys say the rear speaker output cables are easiest to access at the amp under the passenger seat? I hooked up what I thought where the output wires (yellow- , black+ and white with black stripe- , purple with red stripe+) to my bazooka base tube. But when I plugged it in and fired up the car, not 10-15secs passed and there was smoke coming out of the port. I shut-er down right away. I think it was the wadding behind the sub that was burning.Any advice on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks for the postings thus far, it sure does make some of these mods a lot easier when someone else has done the leg work and has the experience!UPDATE: I found the correct wires to tap into (rear speakers red+, white- and black+, yellow-). Now I have a new problem. The amplified sub works, but very low volume, but then curts to nothing after 10-15secs. If I disconnect and reconnect the ground again it works, but then off after 10-15secs again. Any ideas from 'the pros' on here? All I can figure is that the signal is too low so the sub automatically shuts off. Are the rear speakers in my 6-speaker 200watt 2003 vibe option considered subs and I must tap into the front speakers instead for the bazooka to work?

ANY time you see smoke it = bad mojo.... If it comes on for 10-15sec and shuts down, you've cooked the voice coil on the sub and it take that long for the amp to go into protection... No telling WHAT you connected to the first time, but it was prolly at a MUCH higher level than the speaker outputs.... I see a new bass tube in your future.... sorry, i really am...

Darn. I was Hoping I didnt mess things up too bad. Can the voice coil be repair or at least mybe I can buy a new woofer as a replacement rather than buy a whole new bass tube?In any case, this 50watt tube turned out not to be very powerful at all, so maybe frying the first one is karma telling me to go at least 100watts?

It wasn't the 50w that killed it, it was the signal you fed it and then amplified it... it had ZERO to do with output power... well, it had EVERYTHING to do with output, but it was the wrong kind.... an amplifier AMPLIFIES, that's it's jerb... if you input something bad, it's going to make the bad MUCH bigger and well, you know the rest... `

Hi, I have a quick question. Purchased a used Bazooka RS8A for my nissian. No paperwork came with it but I found a diagram on the internet. On the diagram it shows the positive and negative posts, along with the wiring harness connections. When I hook up the positive terminal it blows the 15 amp fuse. I have cleaned the paint from where the ground wire is attached to no avail... Looking at the circuit board it appears there may have been another terminal which is no longer there. Left show neg. and right shows positive but there is that space below that shows (2) silver daps. Any suggestions?thanks,Jimmy B.

What you are describing sounds like the remote turn on terminal is missing... you would have input for power/ground, remote turn on and then signal, either RCA signal or "speaker level" signal... any chance you could get a pic of it?? That would help both of us a lot more...

Thanks for the reply. I spoke with the folks at Bazooka and realized the 2 pin connector was not included with the unit. I went to the auto supply and purchased 2 single clips which serve the same purpose and allows the connectors to not touch. The pic shows where the +/- posts are but when wires are attached the fuse blows. Unless it has something to do with the auto turn on feature I'm lost.Any help would be appreciated.

Hey all, I just wanted to give you an update on this problem. I have been posting on Bazooka's forum and I think I'm getting pretty close to figuring this one out. Going to replace a seemingly fried resistor on the amp's board, and hoping this will resolve my problem.
http://www.sasbazooka.com/foru...p?f=9Bazooka's president wants to extend an invitation for all here to post some of their audio work (bazooka or non-bazooka) on their new 'show my STUFF' board. Apparently you can earn product points. Thought I would throw that out to those who might be interested.
