hello everyone, my engine check light came on, got it checked. the code appear to be :02 sensor responds too slow during testing. 2004 Vibe (Base model with Cosmo SR Intake), (sensor right below the engine, before the cat. Bank 1 ) Can any one tell me where i can get it for reasonal price??? thanks

Hi xing,Doubt you'll find a reasonable price unless you do the Ebay thing. It's also doubtful AutoZone will have it in stock but they can order it. Seems the O2 sensors are hard to find even when ordering. A few have claimed backorders till April. I got one of my O2 sensors through Advance Auto. Cost me $92 and some change + tax. It had to be ordered.Dave

yeah, i ordered the 02 sensor today in Autozone. they don't have it in stock, i will have to go there to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. cost me $118.50 total. -_-" how hard is the procedure to put in the new 02 sensor, the sensor before the cat. thanks for the advise.

it's not too hard to install, if you have tools. i would get an O2 sensor socket - it'll make life a lot easier. first, disconnect o2 sensor connector located behind engine cover, on driver's side. use o2 socket + 3/8"-drive universal + long extension + breaker bar to remove old sensor from exhaust manifold. apply some anti-seize to threads of new sensor (don't get any on sensor bulb). torque new sensor to 33 ft-lbs. in a pinch, you can use a 7/8" box-end wrench, but you'll have to work from under the car and you might have to remove the heat shield covering the exhaust manifold. of course, with a wrench you won't have nearly the same leverage to remove a tight sensor.

thanks for the advise, i seen a topic in problem and warranty whrere someone else stated that BOSCH part 15130, before cat barely fit base VIbe??

of the sensors pictured in the thread, 15310 looks closest to the one you need. the pre-cat sensor doesn't use a grommet, since the wire harness doesn't pass through sheetmetal. it attaches to a connector behind the cylinder head. make sure your new sensor connector matches by plugging it in, before screwing it in. as far as the sensor harness just "hanging loose", the heat shield on the exhaust manifold along with the fiber shield surrounding the harness is sufficient to protect it from heat.
