Worked out my new budget, seems promising

Well I just spent the last hour at my desk revising my budget that I created. I am working on several things, key factors being:-down payment for the ring (already have it saved)-quitting smoking-driving nicer (saves gas = saved $$$)-not eating out as much ($$$ savings-not drinking as much (not that I am an alcoholic but I have a high tolerance which equals expensive nights on weekends)By doing those I should be able to save at least $100 or more a month. I will be debt free by November, have enough funds for my SF trip in April without worry of overdrawing, and I should have at least $10,000 saved up by wedding time in july of 08. So given that I get a raise come December and my detailing on the side during the summer, possibly a weekend job, I should hopefully bank a few grand more, maybe double it if possible. But putting $1,200 away each money in savings is not a bad start. Not sure why I am sharing this with you, I just feel really motivated to get this ball rolling.

lol I wish I could brag about being in debt, lol. No joke its been with me for 4 years now. And it goes back to when I had my Discover card, in college, low paying job, and the like. I was a waiter throughout college which meant cash in pocket each night, not a big check. Well the cash went bye bye and I needed to pay for things and I also had the car bug bite me for the Saturn. I bought things online constantly with that card for the car, "pay it later I said" But that never happened. Now I'm dealing with it and man it is going to feel so good to be done with.

Yeah my wife & I decided along time ago that a credit card would be a BAD thing... my pockets allready have enough holes burnt in them. I know it can help build credit but I'll just tough it out until I can get a better job

Actually having a car payment is better than a CC, its an asset which holds more value when payments are made on time so it boosts credit.

Wait until you go into a store and a clerk tries to force one of those store cards on you and you can tell them, "no thanks, I am debt free and would rather stay that way." I promise you, at least around here, they have no clue as to how to answer that.Like you, I am working to become debt free. I have no credit cards and only a house and student loan payment - everything else is fully paid for. And, if I can't afford it with cash these days, I don't buy it. It is amazing what you don't need!!!Congrats on getting your finances under control now, you will be set the rest of your life if you continue living this way!!!
