supercharger installation

Ok, got my supercharger last friday. Started calling around today to different dealerships to see about getting it installed. So far, most of them tell me they will not do it, and the ones who are "gm performance shops", don't think they make a supercharger for the vibe. My question is this, has anyone had theirs installed by a dealer, and do the superchargers cause as much problems as some of these service techs are implying?

Tell them they're a bunch of gurlymen! I installed the s/c myself and it wasn't that hard. I only got hung up on the Unichip and fuel line cause I didn't have the right tool. Otherwise it took a weekend. If you have just a little of mechanical intuition, some good tools, and a garage, I think You could handle it your self.If your going to use the piggyback ecu that comes with the kit, that is a little tricky, too. Just take your time and read through the instructions a few times.

Yeah, instructions don't seem too bad, but the main reason i want the dealer to install it is so i don't void the warranty, replaced one engine this year (on another vehicle), and don't wanna have to do it again. Also, don't really have a place to do it myself (apartment living at its best).

You live in California, what do you need a garage for?

But it does rain occasionally, right? And Like I said, it'll take a weekend to do the install. But back to your question about voiding your warrenty by not having them install it. In reality, it doesn't matter who installs the s/c. The dealership will do and say anything to void your warrenty if you have anything other then stock parts in it. Dealerships are fart sniffers about that. But if it were say, a Grand Prix (AM) GTP or GTO or anything other than a Vibe, they wouldn't mind too much.

Good luck finding a GM dealer around here that will install it. Toyo, no problem, but GM, keep looking! And if you go to Toyo, no warranty b/c the car is warrantied by GM. It is a very ****ty situation, I could help you install it as I have had to do mine when I tried to go back to stock when the engine blew and replaced it when I got another engine.

yeah, so far, got 3 dealers who might do it, but no prices yet... they are Anaheim, LA, and Indio... and those are the "closest" ones...

When I was 'shopping' for the s/c, the GM place here quoted me $2900 installed. Almost took them up on it, until I won the e-bay s/c.

at least they are willing to install it, no one around here is willing to try, or at least even return a phone call

Actually no one there said anything about installing it either, I was going to install it myself so I didn't even ask.

Go to a Toyota dealership and have it installed. Ours quoted $750 to install mine and I would have had them do it if I'd kept my s/c.

I have 14000 on my '06. At the rate I log highway miles with work, I should be at 36,000 (end of powertrain warranty) in another year. I plan to do the supercharger then.Sometime ago, I had tried to locate some performance specs on the supercharged vibe, but no luck. I have a base 5-speed and I think the 0-60 time that Pontiac lists is 9.5 seconds (that's probably the auto trans). I had always figured if I was buying an additional second (or more) per $1000, that might not be a bad deal, but I'd sure like to get my hands on some figures. If I could get that car to 0-60 in under 6 seconds, I'd be pretty happy. The vids that have been posted on this site are fun, but they really don't tell you much. Not only that, but the way that one shifts in the video, it sounds like an automatic. I had driven both and I think you can make the acceleration slightly better on the unmodified base car with a manual trans.

More than likely they won't do it because either ...1. They don't want to take the time to do the install2.They don't know and don't want to be responsible for anything that goes wrong with the install.3. All of the aboveOn the side note, wasn't there a Vibe that was supercharged strait from the factory? I swear I could have read that somewhere.dan
