I'm in the market for a table-top saw for model-scale projects in wood, plastic, and metal. It seems like the most versatile would be to get a variable-speed band saw with tilting guide-table.The other options would seem to be a scroll/jigsaw or small table circular saw. Any reason I might want to consider one of the latter instead?Anyone have a good idea of the pros/cons of a band saw?Thanks

Band saws allow you to make precise cuts on a stable surface. Scroll saws let you make precise cuts and cut holes inside the piece your cutting. A band saw can't cut holes without starting from an edge. You really need both. You can also change a scroll saw blade much faster than a band saw when switching from wood to metal cutting. I don't see the need for a table saw unless your making larger stuff that requires clean cuts in lumber. If you don't already have one, A Dremel is a must for any intricate wood working.
