oxygen sensor help

where is the first oxygen sensor??(not the one by the cat)the one in the exhaust manifold,,,,,,some pics would be great and some help on how to get at it...i think the heat shield is in the waythanks

Sorry, this is the only picture I have of O2 #1 (pre-cat sensor). And the exhaust manifold is already removed from the car, during install of DC header. This is what you will see after removing 4 bolts holding upper heat shield. It's possible to remove the 02 sensor w/ exhaust still on car, but it's not easy because the sensor is located down low and it's tight. You'll be working in the space between the valvle cover and firewall, or underneath the car. You can use a special 02 socket and breaker bar + extensions, like I did. Or, you can use a 7/8" box wrench, if it's not too tight.

the wires rn thru the heatsield . i didnt even take mine off. its different for a gt though.

I usually spend more time figuring out how to do a task with the tools that I have than buying the right tool for the job.
