You don't know that because you are not a Canadian...A Newfie is a not very bright person who is citizen of Newfoundland, a province of Canada located on the North-East coast. In Canada, we are used to do many jokes involving «Newfies». It's not so nasty but we often use them as leading character in many jokes... You can do a Google search about that and you will find many things. A good one is http://www.newfie.com ... Have fun!
