OT what do you expect from your dealer's website?

I'd like some feedback on what people here expect to find on their dealerships website. I think ours SUCKS, and rather than just talk to the owner about it, i'd like to have something in hand that shows what people expect out of their local dealer's website. I just would like to be able to show the powers that be what car-savvy people (who spend a lot of time and money on their cars, as well as on a specific website...this one!) what they expect to find, and why we keep missing the target. Thanks.

what's your site look like? can we have a link? You want as much information at peoples fingertips as humanly possible. Pretty much everything DM mentioned would be a great start.

I would love to go into their parts DB and use the picture of the car to find the part I need instead of trying to explain to the guy at the window, feeling like a moron. Also I would like to be able to buy the product online and pickup at the store or have it shipped to my house instead of the dealer.I would also like to see the people there use their computers and respond to emails sent.

The charts showing pricing, ect would be very hard to do. Each person and each deal is so different; I'm doing training now in both new Car Sales management operations, and in the General Office management, and I've learned so much about this; a person with a 700 credit score and $500 down is not going to get the same deal as someone with an 800 and $5,000 down. I just don't see anyway to do this. Carmax does a decent job with their system, but it's all just guessing. Same goes for used car values, your idea of what your car is worth, versus what the Black Book/Auction Trak says it's worth are usually very far apart. I found out when I traded back to the Vibe, the Colorado's value on KBB.com was about $4k more than what those trucks were bringing at auction. They really can't reveal what they sold any specific vehicle for, it wouldn't be ethical (most people would be very upset to see the vehicle they just bought marked SOLD and what they paid for it listed), especially in this day of privacy concerns.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Quote ANO_VibeWhat's your site look like? can we have a link? You want as much information at peoples fingertips as humanly possible. I'd love that feature too, being a Parts Manager, but the software used for the parts catalog is VERY proprietary, and expensive to boot. We pay about $2k/month to be able to use it on 4 PC's. The next generation will at least allow us to email prints, the current one doesn't. We don't have an online shopping system for parts, as we only get about 1 email request for parts per month. I respond as soon as I get an email, even if it's just that I'm working on the request.

well I know one thing you need to fix... Your site doesn't work well with IE 5 or Mozilla 1.3 LOL! (I'm stuck on OS 9.2 at work, BTW)I'll have to take a gander later this evening
