I just got my registration in the mail to renew plates and i see that it is now considered 4dr hatchback, not wagon. So at least i can say its a hatchback. Wagon sounded sorta frumpy.

Did that affect the cost of your registration at all?

I was registered in CT as being a 5 door hatch.

well when I went from a 2dr Sunfire to a 4dr Vibe (wagon) my Insurance went up a little b/c it's a "wagon" or a larger car than a sedan... (also b/c I went from a 01 to 05 but I asked & they said it wasn't as much year-model difference as it was body style)I figure if it was classified as a hatchback it'd be about the same rate as a sedan. It's all the same IMO, too... but apparently the ins co. thinks differently

Did you go from a base sunfire to a vibe GT? I went from a 02 Civic EX Coupe (which they class in the same category as the Si, yet the LX is not) because it had the 127hp VTec. So I paid more than I do for my 05 XR AWD. Nice $200 difference!

no GT... just a good ol' base model It' didn't go up much but when I asked why it went up (I was expecting it to be the same or less due to it being 4dr) they said it's b/c of the "wagon" classification. From what I understand they don't look at performance specs... They look at body style (size of vehicle), trim level (GT and whatnot), and year model.
