Inside the Cockpit

Here are some pics of my cockpit with the temporary location I chose for my Boost & EGT Gauges. Nothing is hooked up as I don't have the S/C yet. But I wanted to temporarily place it there so I could get used to it to see if that is really where I want it:3/4 Overall view: Head on overall view:Drivers eye view as I will see it when driving:Closer view of gauges:The gauge pod is not in that way at all when entering the vehicle or driving. My right pant leg does brush it slightly while getting out , but nothing bumps that actual gaue pod. I like the location can see it while driving fine and keeps it sleeperish. The gauges are GlowShift Tinted 7 Color Gauges. I can select from 7 different colors or rotate colors thru all 7. PS: The Aztek Tranny put me down and I thought I was out of the Supercharger game. But I explained the situation to the GM distributor and they are working with me on an extended payment plan since I have been helping them promote the sales of their S/C's.

Honestly blue, I think thats a bad location. Only because when your really getting on it, you will have to take your eyes off the road for way more than a split second to get a good look at the guage. I think your better off with it on the a-piller only because it's a quick glance over.. you wouldn't have to move your head just your eyes to see the guage.Talk to T&A (turbo&auto) about a gauge pod painted to match your car over on the MO site. He does very good work.

Yes, Nick does excellent work, but I can't use an A-pillar gauge pod with side airbags. If the side airbags went off I would be killed by the gauges. No thanks. It is a known fact that gauge A-pillars are a no, no for side airbag Vibes & Matrix's. I didn't want to plug up any air vents or put the gauges on the dash. So this was the next best solution. It will do for now. I would love to get a Zeitronix Zt-2 or a PLX R-500 in the future if I can get one use at a good price. I would locate that on top of the steering column in front of the oem gauges.I don't have to move my head to look at these either, just my eyes.

I hope that you can see those gauges during daylight hours. I have one of the Glow Shift Tachs sitting in my closet. Looks good at night but no way to see during the daylight. I contacted them about a refund or replacing the smoked glass and they pretty much told me to stick it. Maybe your's are lighter than mine. I loved the little 2 inch tach but it was absolutley no use in daylinght, no matter what color I chose for the background.

I took that into account also for my location since they are tinted. The gauges should be bright enough down there where it is darker that Ithink I will be able to see them ok.

Great.I had mine up high and the sun tore me up. Wanted to replace the one in my motor home with it but it is in the dash and the sun will hit it too.

If I was able to use the A-pillar, I would definitely get the clear glass gauges.

Well, from experience with having my gauges in that small cubby there, I really don't like having them there, same with my air bag gauges in the glove box. I want everything on the pillars or dash someone where I can see them easily!

Yeah, I thought about the left cubbie, but there was no clear view from the driving position. I thought about the glove box as well, but it's way too far away. I can see them easily where they are at for now.

what about mounting them up by your sun/moon roof controls? Up on the headliner. I wasn't aware of your side impact air bags. Your correct the apiller won't work.

Good suggestion, Keith. I just tested it out as if it were in that location. I don't like it at all there. I definitely would have to move my head to see it and I would have to run the electrical wires and boost hose in the headliner and down the a-pillar. Yeah, that prett much covers allthe locations I can do right now with out a customized interior to accomodate tha gauges. If I had an aftermarket stereo that had a open space above or below then I would put them there. But I like the stock stereo, and there is no sense removing it unless it breaks for some reason. I will most likely switch to the PLX or Zietronix all-in-one digital that I can locate on the steering column, if I can find one for cheaper on ebay. I'll just have to patient.Thank for all the suggestions and comments guys. Much appreciated!
