Here is some great reading on the 1zz and 2zz engines. It gets into some nitty gritty so some of you may fall asleep, but very good comparisons to let you know just how different these two babies are and might provide some insight to those curious why some things work for the 1zz and not the 2zz.The good comparison starts under the heading "7th generation Celica Engine Information and Specs"

That is why it feels like a super charger kicks in at 6,000. I have certainly been impressed with my wife's GT performance and still gets 30 mpg on 87 octane. At 11.5 to 1 compression I see why they recommend 91 octane. I don't like the feel of the clutch in low gear. Very hard to ease off. I can't count how many times we have killed the thing in 2 years. Ain't used to it yet. However, it will certainly spin sideways if you dump the clutch at 6 grand and keep smoking those tires in second. Guess that's why its got a stiffer clutch.
