Fuel Filter question

I've read in my manual, and searched the net, and I can't find any info about replacing the fuel filter on my Vibe GT. It's fuel injected, so I assume it has one. Anyone got any info on this (Part #, availability, replacement frequency, location, etc)?Dale FinchVibe GTLava Red

Welcome to GenVibe!Good question! Don't know. The owners manual doesn't recommend changing it. http://www.mygmlink.com/pdf/go2content/ ... 03vibe.pdf so maybe there isn't one. Is that possible?

I search in the owner manual as well and there's nothing about the fuel filter. But I doubt the car has no fuel filter. It should have one, I hope.

I checked the service manual and the only fuel filter is attached to the fuel pump inside that gas tank.

Manufacturers are of two minds re fuel filters. Some recommend service at regular (usually quite long) intervals, others realize that most vehicles can operate all their lives without clogging a filter and that if you change it today, there's no guarantee you won't get a load of crud tomorrow and plug it up again. Often the only mention of changing the fuel filter appears in the Service Manual "fault tree" for the diagnosis of stumbling, stalling, lack of power etc.For what it's worth, I changed the filter on my 15 year old Sprint/Metro/Suzuki at 340,000 km, only to find that wasn't the problem. All it contained was a tiny smear of ultra-fine rust from the original fuel tank that had rotted out years before...

You should never have to change the fuel filter. As BigBill said about his Metro, it too was located inside the fuel tank and the service manual said to change it only when it fails.

Well I suppose someone could put in an inline filter somewhere.
