Sounds great V! That's a great location for me. Hope others can join us. Tomorrow I'm going to drive down one of the best scenic roads around here; a long winding road through coastal marshes. Going to meet up with some fellow artists to do some plein air painting out at Big Talbot Island. It's my first chance to do some non-city / interstate travel. I've been itching to have some "fun" driving this car.

Hey V, any more takers on our meet in St.Augustine?

I haven't gotten any more e-mails yet, but the MatrixOwners site has quite a few people will. I'm going to e-mail Vibr8tr, seeing as it was his idea, I want to make sure the dates and times will be ok, then we'll just need to find a place in (maybe) St. Augustine that will be good for the meet.

This thought just came to my mind...Feb 17 is the day before the Daytona 500, I don't think we'll want to be around that area on that weekend, what would you say to postponing it another week? What about the 20th?

I don't think you should change it. Sat, Feb 17 is also the weekend of President's Day. Someone said it would be easier for those traveling from afar if they had the extra day for the holiday. Also, since the date has already been announced it could confuse those that don't check the board regularly. Besides Daytona Beach is 60 miles from St. Augustine; and won't all those going to the race be down in Daytona? St. Aug is a tourist town so there will always be extra folks there on the weekend. It seems most have said it's a good time and place.BTW to avoid I-4 at Daytona you could take I-75 up to Ocala and come across FL-40 to I-95 near Ormond Beach, just above Daytona. It's a nice drive and normally not much traffic. Or just exit I-4 near Sanford and take US-17 north up to FL-40 and across.

I thought you said we were meeting at the Lighthouse? There are lots of places though. I could check for a spot that isn't near the tourist centers if you want; perhaps a shopping center parking lot. I know there's an outlet center right off of I-95 that would be easy to find. We could rendezvous there, and decide what to do after everyone shows.

I don't know the area that well, my friend told me that there is no good parking in St. Augustine.

OK then. It should be easy to find, have room for all of us to hang out, and probably a place to eat since it will be around lunch time. I'll see what I can find. I'm thinking that outlet center by I-95 at Rt-16 would be good because you can see the lot from the highway. I've rarely seen the lot full. But, I don't know about eats. Let me do some research.

Kelly, you already know I am up for it. And those dates sound great. As long as I have the money for gas (I already know I will) I will be there.

I haven't cause if you don't have your pop-up blocker off, you woun't see the im, I've just e-mailed people, and I've only heard from one, but I'll keep e-mailing them with updates untill they break or send the cops after me.

Shadow Realm was on one of the threads earlier and is from Jax. He sounded like he wanted to get involved again. His email is in his profile so you can tell him about the meet. Have you tried him?

I don't get home from work until after 6pm, so if you want me in the Chat it'll have to be after that. Maybe 7pm is good as most will be home by then.I wrote a friend who lives in St.Aug about our needs and I'm hoping there will be an email for me when I get home. Otherwise, I could go down there after work one day and scope things out.I thought we had mentioned 1pm to allow folks far off to get there. That would mean a late lunch or we could eat an early dinner.

7:pm would be awesome. Yeah, I was thinking 1:pm would be good for the meet, but I wanted to see what others were thinking, bare with me I've never done a meet before so this is all new to me. see you there tonight, hopefully Vibr8tr will be in there tonight, as well as (maybe) some Matrix owners.

OK, just so I have my facts straight, it is on the 17th in St. Aug? Sounds great. Is any one going to be there early? I am thinking fo coming down on either the 16th (since I have it off) or going to Daytona on the night of the 15th and staying with my dad until the meet.... It's only like an hour or two from Daytona going up US-1 to St. Aug.Either way everything sounds great, I am beyond excited to actually have a meet and get to see some other vibe faces.

There's a good chance I'll be up the evening of the 16th and stay till the 18th.

How far is it from Tampa? I thought it was only a few hours... but I could be wrong, FL is a wide state at parts.

You know what.... I feel silly, but I can't remember.... I think so, I remember it having it, but I could be wrong. I know it was just the 6 CYL, but it was still nice. Red with Black stripes..... I will see if I can dig up a pic.By the way. this meet better be worth it (not to put on the pressure), but it's a 6 hour drive for me to go out to eat with you guys, lol.... I am kidding, I know it will be worth it.

Gee Vibr8tr I was looking forward to seeing your Neptune Vibe; I hope you bring it. If your Dad followed you up in the Firebird we'd get to see them both. Anyway, hope you can make it; I think it will be worth the trip.

No matter what "Vib" will be there (yes, his name is Vib.... it wasn't my idea for the name, and I really am not a fan of it, but someone started calling it that and the name stuck). I am still working on the Bird coming along. Something tells me that will be a last minute desicion, but I am almost positive it will be there too.

Just to let anyone know who is planning to stay the night in St. Aug, rooms are few so, get your rooms quickly! I'll be staying at Avenida Inn Saint Augustine -2800 Ponce de Leon Blvd.-St. Augustine, FL 32084. I spent a few hours down at the Meet site in St. Augustine today and found out a few things that might be of interest to those coming.There are many motels at that exit I-95/FL-16 and the rates are in the $55 to $65 per night range, although they say it could be more during special events (which could mean the "500" weekend). Expect to pay more downtown or over by the beach. Book ASAP because that WILL be a busy weekend for motels.In case you want to book on the internet these are the ones I saw at that interchange: Best Western, Country Inn, Days Inn, Econo Lodge, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Ramada Inn Limited, Scottish Inn, Super 8, Wingate Inn.

While scoping out the area I found these gas stations at the I-95/FL-16 interchange: Gate, Kangaroo, BP, Shell, Exxon. Thought this might be helpful to those that are picky about the fuel they use. Average price there on 1/21/07 was $2.289. Prices are supposed to be coming down, but there's no telling what it will be by the Meet or if they will bump the price for the "500" travelers.If you are coming south on I-95 through Georgia, I recommend re-fueling before hitting the Florida state line. Prices at GA exits 1 thru 3 are usually 10 cents or more per gallon less. Also, the 2.28 price is about 7 to 10 cents higher than in Jacksonville, and I expect a station away from the interstate would likely be less.

Here are a few details about finding the Meet location which may help:1) Exit #318 on I-95 labelled St. Augustine and Green Cove Springs.2) Go east after exiting; right if travelling north, and left if travelling south.3) First traffic light after exiting onto FL-16 you will turn left onto Belz Outlet Blvd. There is a Kangaroo gas station on the corner.4) Belz Outlet Blvd curves around to a Stop sign. Go thru the stop and a car length or two turn right into the lot. We should be right there. Find us at the Liz Claiborne end of the mall. 5) Confusing Signs: From the interstate you can see a tall sign saying Belz Factory Outlet, and the road you take is Belz Outlet. However, the big entrance sign at the light says Prime Outlets. I was told that the center changed hands recently and they haven't replaced the highway sign yet. In fact Belz is no longer at the site.6) Note there is another large outlet center on the other side (west) of the interstate called Premium Outlets. Wrong one, go to the other side of the interstate. (see the pix in the 1st post)

well it is a little far but not as bad...its north carolina so its like 2 states away ..(it shouldnt be that bad)..ive driven to ones in texas just so i could be in one cause they hardly ever have Vibe Meets Here In My Neck Or The Woods..lol
