I am also interested in improved back up lights.I have tinted windows and brighter lights would make a big difference when I parallel park at night.

I changed mine to PIAA and with 20% tint it made little or no difference. I have to open my windows to back up in my dark country driveway.

I can't emagine someone using hids for backup lights because of the lenghty time it takes them to warm up to full brightness although it would be interesting. I just usually power down my windows and use my side mirrors.

leds would be an option, you would need quite a few to give off enough light i just don't see how you could fit enough LED's in to such a small back up light. Now... if you wanted too... I have to throw this out there.. but you could get a nice small set of fog lights and mount them some how to the underside of the bumper and turn them on ONLY when your backing up... People use this method for backing up to trailer in the middle of the night. Don't even think about using them to blind people behind you though... thats a big NO NO

i've always thought that it would be nice to have the driver's side backup switched to red and have it turn on with the fogs....i vaguely remember somebody trying/doing this on the board a long time ago?
