Battery Hydrometer

I've got a question about my car's battery hydrometer. It's showing black or empty, not green like it is supposed to. The dealer and Checker both say the battery is fine. So why is it not green?

Not sure. I just checked my 18 mo. old original battery and the green dot shows up fine.

I remember it was REALLY hard to see the green dot on my battery. I had to use a flashlight, and then I could see it.

I even used a flashlight, still couldn't see it. The Checker guy commented that several other people had come in with the same concern, but their batteries checked out OK too.

mine WAS green... until it was dead.Maybe if it was cold there you would have a problem.

The 'Green Eye' hydrometers are notoriously wrong, which is why Delphi no longer makes a battery with one installed.
