Does it say anything in the manual about changing them? If not you should be able to get under the back and pull them out. I have never changed mine yet but it should not be to hard.

Hey There,Just lay on your back, under the rear bumper, reach up and turn the dark gray plastic part that sits in the light gray housing a 1/4 turn counter clockwise and gently pull. The bulb is mounted in the dark gray plastic thing, pull the bulb straight out and replace it with piaa 27 watt babies for a little extra illumination. Try not to touch the new bulb with your hands as the oils from your skin may shorten the life of the bulb.Reverse procedure to reinstall. I turned the dark gray plastic pieces by nudging it with a screw driver, because of the limited amount of room in there for my big hairy arms. The bulb number is "7440".

Thanks everyone! I figured I had to go under the bumper but I hoped there was a shortcut! Seems like it went out after someone sheared the entire side of my 2004 Vibe while it was parked overnight. Got it fixed and it looks perfect except the light, which someone pointed out to me recently.

here are pics of the damage. I haven't looked at them for about 6 months or so. I guess it doesn't look as bad as I remembered, it just seemed like the whole side was ripped apart. The rear bumper didn't suffer any visible damage except for a small crease in the back-up light area, must have shook the bulb a bit. The rear door and quarter panel were replaced including the strip that wraps over both the front and rear doors. What was heartbreaking was that I had owned the Vibe for only two weeks and I had just washed it and waxed it the day before, only to wake up and see it like this while walking to work.
