Oh the weather outside is frightful...

Its freezing rain like mad here. I ordered a pizza and it took an hour to get here. When I opened the door, all I could hear was spinning tires. Of course this would be the busiest travel weekend of the year. We even had to postpone our trip home tonight. This is not entirely the fault of the weather though. I'm a contractor at work. Everyone who's not a contractor was told they could go home at lunch. Contractors were told they must stay. Now thats what you call the Christmas spirit isn't it? Every year previous to this we have been allowed to go home at the same time. So we had all planned afternoon activities (one of mine was to leave town before the freezing rain) which then had to be cancelled.

At least with the freezing rain, it will be a little bit like a snowy Christmas, with the countless fender-benders, the slipping and falling, skating on the ice rinks (sometimes called roads), and they way all the outdoor lights reflect off of the ice on the road, trees, houses, and cars and trucks, might make it seem a bit more cheery!

yep, i'll take my snow over freezing rain any day! i remember one christmas about 6 yrs ago, the freezing rain was so bad, we couldn't get out of the driveway.... it was aweful! unless you had studded tires, you just couldn't get any kind of traction. and even then, it was very minimal.

I don't think i've had ONE white Christmas.Gray, and wet? Sure. Plenty of those. It's supposed to rain this weekend here in GA, but I think it'll be dry at this point..

plenty of snow in alaska... its a white christmas for sure. Only time freezing rain is fun is after about a foot of snow. That way you break through it but everything still looks pretty.
