do you have a phobia/anxiety?

I have a really strange phobia. I'd rather not say what it is because it is really embarassing but to give out a lil hint it involves gas stations. People who are really close to me know about it but laugh at me b/c of it. I was just wondering if i'm the only one with a weird phobia that makes you get REALLY bad anxiety. I get really bad anxiety from social situations too, like being in crowded places or being in line at the store when i get a lot of people behind me but nothing like what happens with the gas station ordeal. dont think i'm strange...i'm just curious if other people out there have something they are afraid of

I get real nervous and sweaty when I hear bugs flying around me,especiallt things like bees and wasps and hornets. I'm not badly allergic to bee stings, but the last time I got stung on my arm, the thing swelled up to about 4 inches long and about a half inch tall.I have been known to do the "Bee Dance" on numerous occasions.I even get minor swelling (about the size of a nickel) from mosquito bites.I don't have a "Mosquito Dance" worked out yet.And for the record, I wouldn't think you were strange for having an unusual phobia or anxiety, one of my wife's friends absolutely freaks out at RAISINS. Honest. She won't go near them, and can't even look at pictures of them.

No real phobias, but I get anxious around large crowds of people. Expecially if it's inside a building (concerts, etc.)

I have a fear of public speaking, which is very common. So, in an attempt to conquer this fear, I volunteered to teach an adult Sunday School class every fith Sunday at my church. I taught my first class last month. It was very difficult, but I did it. I'm determined to keep going.

Bees and similar stinging inscets terrify me. Started about when i was around 12 years old and had a large bumbble be smack me in the eye. I dont think it ever actually stung me but we collided and it was quite painful.

Would a phobia of having a slow car count Kidding, I would say I have a fear of needles, I get all sweaty and green and have even vomitted a few times over getting an IV or a flu shot. My only other real fear is being poor, or getting into a ficancial trouble, that I can't get out of.

I hate being in crowds, being in tight spaces, and good god, being in a crowd in a tight space! I do have many phobias... In general, it's safe to say I always feel like the whole world is out to get me and I often get stressed about that.

The thing that really gets me the most is being in a crowd amongst taller people... Not being able to see anything just freaks me out. You've got it pretty good, mavrik - you're like eleventeen feet tall.

Its not something I experience often... bugs me to no end lol

I could be wrong, but I could have swore that was in a thread somewhere that you were a taller guy.

Helicopters at night. When I was a kid (like 8 or 9), I had an upstair bedroom with a large window. One night, a police helicopter was circling around our neighborhood with a search beam and a couple of times, that darned light would shine right into my room. Freaked me out.To this day, the hair will stand on the back of my neck if I hear a chopper at night.

Anytime I see a roll of toilet paper installed so the paper rolls from the back, I have to change it so it rolls from the front. Not really an anxiety, more of a compulsion.I'm not comfortable with hieghts, especially if I'm not in control. But I was ok with doing high angle rescues and I loved working in the basket on the aerial truck.

I almost hurl when I have to get my yearly TB test for my work. People who know me cannot understand it. I'm over 6' tall and over 185 lbs and can take quite a bit of physical punishment, but I would rather operate on myself than have a needle put in me. It has nothing to do with "pain"...it's the idea of a needle.Quote, originally posted by Vibr8tr »...My only other real fear is being poor, or getting into a ficancial trouble, that I can't get out of.Are you me impersonating me ?

mine is a little strange, but here goes...When I'm in a confined place, I'm fine, but if I can't move my arms or legs (say like in a tight 15 passenger van) after a while (2-3 hrs) I start to get very nervous and jumpy, and I can't stop moving/shifting.I also get freaked out if some one is standing behind me (my friend use to walk up behind me and poke me in the sides every day at school, I hated that so much).I can't stand seeing a dead body of going into a graveyard, I suffer form an over-active imagination, the funny part is, my uncle is an undertaker

wow, this is a really interesting topic to read. I can't think of any major fears/axiety things. From time to time i do get really nervous about certain things, but I just try to assure myself that there is nothing wrong.Quote, originally posted by VforVIBE »When I'm in a confined place, I'm fine, but if I can't move my arms or legs (say like in a tight 15 passenger van) after a while (2-3 hrs) I start to get very nervous and jumpy, and I can't stop moving/shifting.oh man, I was in a van once for a shuttle to an airport that was about 3 hours away. And it was typical hot Arizona weather, and i was stuck sitting in the middle seat. there was no head rest, and virtually no wiggle room. I could tell everyone was uncomfortable and sweaty and stuff. I absolutely hated it. There were times when i thought I was going to have to jump out of the frickin van. lol. But whenever I'd feel uncomfortable I'd just listen to my music and let my mind wander off about something else that would distract me from the cramped spaces around me. it really helped

Using the phone makes me anxious. I hate having to pick up the phone and phone someone I've never met/talked to. I often have to for work. I stress about it until the phone call is over. Actually once I'm speaking to the person I'm usually fine... its the time leading up to the actual dialling. If I can get away with it I will always EMAIL. This is why I often order food from Swiss Chalet Delivery online - I don't have to phone them. In fact I will seek out fast food with online delivery just to avoid the phone.

I work at an insurance office and whenever i have to speak with an agent at another agency about something on an application, i will look through all the correspondence of the file like 500 times to look for an email address before i have to call. I used to keep the files on my desk for a couple days til i got the courage to call on my lunch hour while everyone was at lunch. Now that i have more people by my cubicle at work now can't do that anymore, so i gotta gain the courage somehow...haha

I have an irrational fear of snakes, irrational ? yepIf I see a snake and know it is there I'm fine with it. However, if I am walking through the woods or lots of undergrowth, my mind tells me that there is are snakes everywhere, under every limb, hiding behind everytree just waiting for ME to walk by so they can strike. If I see a snake on a path, I don't freak out, I'm not afraid of THAT snake, it is all the snakes I don't see I'm afraid of. I know they are lying in wait, plotting, scheming, planning on how to sink their fangs into my body.is that crazy or what ?
