Mustang sedan and wagon models to join coupe as Ford builds on strong brandFord's iconic Mustang is poised to play a crucial role in Ford's future by expanding beyond its traditional role as a single performance figurehead into a complete range of global models. And the company's Australian arm looks like the source for all the necessary hardware. In a secret product planning meeting last fall, key Ford executives discussed a bold strategy to take the legendary Mustang mainstream.Ideas include both sedan and wagon variants of America's original muscle car, with those cars joining the traditional coupe when the sixth-generation Mustang arrives in U.S. showrooms in 2011, AutoWeek sources say.

I've always wanted to build an El Ranchero type car out of a Mustang.

Hmm, somebody's wanting to challenge the Dodge Magnum and Charger? This oughta (removed) off the hardcore Mustang fans, a wagon and a sedan??? It sounds like a better idea than that pinto stang of the 70's... And also a better idea than thinking they can replace the Mustang with a front wheel drive Mazda back in the 80's with the Probe. lol!

hahhah CP. yea that fwd stang really pissed em off. i still think the newer probes looked cool (specially with a taurus sho engine

) but the first gen probes some came turbo'd! I think since they are keeping the 2 door stangs making some 4 door ones wont (removed) to many off...welll wait yea haah it will. there will be people saying the stang image will be ruined by it but..meh whatever if they sell which they might its all good to me

Thank goodness a tragedy has been averted. The Mustang is sacred, as the Southern Indiana mullet headed, strung out on meth crowd will tell you. The nameplate will be protected at all costs! Turning it into some sissy station wagon or something with extra doors on the back, well, that's communism. Although the national guard is still on standby just in case this news is actually true and there becomes a riot. hehehe(not saying anything bad about Mustang owners in general, just some of the shady characters that drive 'em around here. )
