These tires are crap. No traction what so ever.

Which one do you have??? I agree with you, 4 seasons tire are crap in snow and on ice, that's why I bought winter tires, much better then my poor Continental.

I have the Continentals on my Vibe, and they have been pretty good so far for 4 season tires. It has everything to do with how you drive. You certainly can't expect to be able to drive in snow and ice with these tires the same as you would on dry pavement. We've had all kinds of weather here in Ottawa lately, and I haven't had a single problem. I even hit a long patch of black ice this week, and the car kept a straight path the whole way. Of course I made sure not to press the brakes much at all (I don't have ABS), and didn't make any sudden jerks on the steering wheel. If I wanted to drive a little faster, or lived in an area that rarely gets plowed I would definitely get winter tires, but they keep the main roads pretty clear here, and the side roads are more than mangeable at reasonable speeds.Just my 2cents.

True enough.

I agree. Mine have performed decently as long as I adjust my driving for the road conditions. That being said, I may buy some snow tires next year anyway.

The tires could be better but I'll still take this car over my former Mustang in the winter. I would have been stuck numerous times this winter if I hadn't traded it in for my Vibe GT. I thought about buying winter tires this year but didn't because I'm hoping to move farther South next year and didn't want to invest the $$$.

LOL Salsa!I never said Snow tires weren't better. I just didn't want them this year...or rather couldn't afford them. I thought I would see what the all seasons are like the first time around.

I would have to agree the the Conti's are crap. I live in Montana and got my Vibe about a month ago, but I hate to put out the money this year for snow tires since, hopefully...spring is almost here! I just love slipping and sliding all over!

The Conti's haven't seemed that bad, but if they evaporate in 12,000 miles like discussed in another thread, then I'll be ready to replace them with something better before the next season. At this point, I can't justify replacing tires with only 1,000 miles on them.

Well, I must say after driving in this ice/snow storm, that the 17s aren't the worst thing ever. Only lost a little grip, but upshifting sooner kept everything under control.

I hope everyone who is unhappy with these tires has complained to GM. It may not help us but future owners may benefit. I just read today that GM has hired a Toyota Exec. to help increase quality so they must care a little.

My Contis have been great in the snow for me. I will replace soon with some 17's for the spring and summer if the wife permits. Vibe has more stable than initially thought in this insane weather almost like having AWD

quote:....-Buy some snow tires!!!! the 17 are not for all season use!If you want high performance 17" winter tires, you can try the Dunlop Winter Sport M2 like I did. Check out my sig for the link. I've been happy with the traction on snow and icy roads. Of course I have to slow down when making turns and taking on sharp curves. But overall, I've been happy with the performance of my winter tires.
