My wife is going to get one. So I looked up some figures on the little SUV. I couldn't believe it. 0-60 in 6.7 and 15.3 in the 1/4 mile. It seems to be the #1 rated small SUV. It had the same problem my Vibe has though. The streering wheel is way to far away for my wife. We test drove one and it really flew. Not a bad deal for $29,000. Anybody have one???? How do you like it long term????

Yep, they're nice. It was a toss up for us between it and the '06 Saturn Vue (3.5 Honda V6) which does 0-60 in 7.0 sec. and likewise, 15.3 1/4. We wanted a vehicle that would do light duty towing (3500 lbs) and also get decent mileage when not towing (20-22 cty, 28-29 hwy). My research showed the RAV4 V6 and the Vue V6 to be head and shoulders above similar small SUVs, with regard to power and fuel economy. What killed it for us, with regard to the RAV4, was the weird side hinge tailgate with the spare tire hanging on it. So far, the Vue has been great for us and what a blast to drive. Hope we made the right decision and good luck on yours.

But if it telescopes as good as the Vibe tilts, it's worthless. LOL

No telenothing on the RAV. Pretty weird not to have that feature on a $29,000 vehicle.

for 30K$ you could be looking at a fully loaded Mazda CX-7, Or a Nissan murano SL AWD. What sold me on the murano, was the standard back up camera on the SL

Yea "silverawd26" I did notice that but they couldn't get to do anything but go up and down. We are going to test drive it again next week and I'll see if we can get it to get closer. The Nissan Murano was my favorite , but it requires Premium fuel and is slower than the RAV 4. Plus were just trying to get her a commuter car that gets as close to 30mpg as possible. We have a WB Venture for a bigger vehicle.

My owners manual calls out for regular unleaded, but suggest premium. so we go for in between, 89 octane. and yeah, we average 21 mpg around here.the rav 4 and the muran are no whre near the same class. the back seat has "room" to streach. lol I thought the rav4 was too small for me.Good luck with your search.

The Rav4 V6 will go 0-60 and back to 0 in about the same time as the others mentioned here will get to 60 (except for the V6 Vue) and give you about 5 mpg better fuel economy in return. But, can you live with the tailgate and spare tire? LOL. Just kidding. The Vibe sure would be (more) fun with that much torque and hp.

I'm not trashing the RAV4 as I personally like it, but I'm very intrigued by the Nissan Murano and Mazda CX-7. I certainly wouldn't rule out the other two just because they are a tad slower - specifically if they were also reasonably cheaper...Just because it has a Toyota badge, doesn't warrant paying extra for it.

i would buy the new Rav4 over the mazda or Murano. I've always like the Rav4, but now i wouldn't mind having one of the newer larger ones. the price tag for a Murano is pretty high. the only reason i'd even consider one or the Mazda is because we'd get a good deal on one since Mav works for the group that owns those dealerships.
