Official Photography Thread

This seemed like it would be a fun thing to start. We always share pictures of our Vibes (or other cars in some cases) but we rarely ever just share our photos. So, here's the thread for it. Edit: Just to make sure there's no confusion, I'm not wanting to stop anyone from creating a thread to share vacation photos or anything. I just thought it would be fun to have a thread to share some of the photos we might not share otherwise. There are just a few rules. 1) Only 1 photo post per day. This way everyone gets to share. 2) Please only submit your own work. 3) Photos posted must be no larger than 480px high. (640x480 for landscape layout. 360x480 for portrait layout). 4) This thread will probably get big. With that in mind, let's try to keep it on topic as much as possible. Everyone is free (encouraged, even) to comment on the photos posted but try to keep it to one post per photo. 5) The rules are subject to change as needed. 6) Part rule, part statement. You needn't be a pro to post in this thread. That said, let's try to keep any criticism strictly positive.7) Not a rule but just a notice. We will probably prune some of the comments after a while just to control the size of the thread. We're not picking on anyone just keeping things tidy.

I'll lead off. This was taken nearby where I live. I'm starting to experiment a little bit and was happy with the way this came out. Of course I should learn to be a little more careful as this shot ALMOST resulted in injury and loss of a rather precious piece of equipment. Isolation:

I took this while on one of those cheesy doubledecker bus sightseeing tours in NYC, but I think it's a really cool shot. It's in downtown Manhattan, near City Hall.

I love this bridge... It makes for a nice entrance to downtown Columbus, IN. I adore that little town, it has some of the neatest architecture downtown! There may not be a lot to do there, but there's a lot of neat stuff to walk around and look at. lol! So, I have a zillion pics of that place. This is a great idea, Millster! I can't wait to share some of the stuff I've taken of people, places, and things. I'm certainly not a pro though, so don't be too hard on me, folks!

This was taken at the train station in French Lick, Indiana...I really like the rustic quality of the sign and the rich blue color of the sky, together with the lines of the roof and the posts.

No offense, but that's one spooky looking Santa! I guess I'm spoiled - we have gone to The Mall of America every year since our son was born. Normally a 2-3 (if not more) hour wait - he spends probably 5 minutes with each and every kid. I refuse to go anywhere else!

To answer the inevitable question, yes Photoshop was used on this photo to tweak the color saturation. The gradient effect of the sky was achieved with a polarizer filter on my camera. Fall's Final Colors

Here's one of my favorite pics taken by my son. It's the Frank Lloyd Wright designed "Fallingwater" in western Pennsylvania. Taken in the fall of '05.

kostby, I love that pic of the Frank Lloyd Wright home! He created some amazing works of art in his time. And the pic of the courthouse looks very nice too!On to my latest submission, view of downtown Cincinnati (er, actually just the bridge for the most part!) as seen from Newport On The Levee.

This is how we roll up in the Dunes Seriously though....This is a picture of my friend Janine bravely jumping off of the highest dune up near Traverse City at the sleeping bear dunes. We had competitions to see who could get the most airtime. As you can see, it is quite a long fall to the bottom but its all sand so it doesn't hurt all the bad as long as you roll when you hit hte ground lol.
