Hmm...from the "heroes" thread, i thought i'd start this up.Thanks to that show, i went down into the basement and found my box of dusty comics (still in the protective plastic sleeves!)Stuff I collected:SilverSurfer (from Issue #1 to about #50?)Punisher (From #1 to about #50 also...I also have a #4 of the 4 issue mini-series that came out before the regular publication)Area 88 (japanese b/w comic with a great storyline)Lonewolf and Cub (#1 - #3...another great Japanese b/w)Strikeforce Morturai (Don't remember which numbers..but close to the first ones..maybe #1?)I have the famous "Spiderman gets married" issue.That's all i remember right now, but i'll have to update later...

I have around 150-200 comics I think... I haven't looked in a while. Not many of mine are worth much. I think the most valuable one I have is Amazing Spider-Man #300 (first appearance of Venom) & the Chromium reprint that came out a while back. I'll see what I have when I get home

i have tales from the crypt and beavis and butthead comics myself...

When Image publishing came out I jumped on that band wagon too. I still get about 6 comics a month.

Most of mine run from the late-60's to the early 80's (aka: "my childhood"). Credit my parents for getting me to read at an early age. But the real credit goes to my Grandfather for buying my first superhero comic when I was 4. It was an issue of "The Phantom" from Charlston Comics.Funny story....on my very first day of kindergarten, I got sent to the princinpal's office. I snuck a comic book into class and got caught reading it. Thought I was in trouble, but the teacher and the principal were just impressed that I was reading it. The principal called my Mom and congratulated her. She thought he was calling her because I was in trouble!

Never collected comics, but i did collect other things, Transformers and G.I.Joes and Hot wheels, had atleast 5000+ hotwheel cars, 5 rubbermade tubs of hotwheels lol

Granted, it does ruin the issue a bit, but it's about getting them excited to read.and a comic book makes for some pretty cool gift wrap too!

I liked the graphic novels because I thought the artwork was generally better. I never had the patience to follow the story month after month either. A.D.D. boy here!

I had the 1st issue of The Destroyer. I don't think it lasted like the paperbacks did. Remo Williams rules....That's the biz, sweetheart.

That's a neat idea Atomb. good for those generic issues that won't be worth anything

Lets see, a bunch of Batman graphic novels, various full years of Batman, Detective comics, some Dark Knight, 20 issues before Death of Superman, and the next year or so, Spawn Issue 1 to current, assorted 70's and 80's Spiderman, 90's X-Men, most of the DC/Vertigo Gaiman-type titles, and a bunch of various horror and mystery comics from my youth.In the basement, I have over 30 comics boxes full, and a couple more piles ready to be sorted yet.

I have a ****load of comics in my storage in TX, most from '94-'97 or so.

a comic book horror story(for me anyway)when my mom was engaged, her fiance worked w/ a guy who had EVERY x-men comic book from #1 to the present year(1991). i found out that he didn't want em anymore, and he just wanted to get rid of em, and i asked my soon to be step dad damn near every day about how much his friend wanted for em, that i'd do anything to pay em off. well by the time his good for nothin @#$ got around to askin the guy, he told my step dad that he'd sold em to someone at my mom's wedding for $150. yep, that's correct, ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FREAKIN DOLLARS!!! i was ready to mutilate my stepdad that day. (end of story)i loved comic books, but i never really had the $$ to get em when i was little, so i'd jus read em in the grocery store while moms was shoppin.she did get me the wolverine/nick fury graphic novel for christmas one year tho. i still got it somewhere, i think it's at my grandma's house back in indiana.

I guess that just proves that some people just don't realize what they have sometimes.

he said he knew exactly what he had, he jus wanted to get rid of it quick because he didn't have room for em anymore, and it would take a lot longer to get someone to buy the collection at it's full value than if he were to jus sell it for his price.

Hence the reason I still have mine. I know it will be a ***** to sell them at anything near what they're worth unless you to get a booth at a Comic Con or something, then you still will likely not sell many of them.

i've pretty much resigned myself to knowing that i won't make money from them...so i'm keeping them around to read with my kids one day!i think the non-monetary value of them is much greater!

I never get to see them anymore, but when I do that is what I got them for. It started getting too expensive for me to try to collect all the ones I wanted, and driving days were there so I resorted to having a girlfriend and doing stuff and kind of flaked off on the comics. Now when I go to a comic store I see a bad-@$$ cover, open it up, and the inside art sucks, so I don't feel I'm missing much anymore.
