PETA is good for something after all

I usually don't agree with PETA, but when they stop trying to shock people with their stupid stunts, they can actually do some good. A boy in my town of Suffolk was mauled to death by the family pit bull. This dog spent most of it's life on a chain in the back yard. This is a practice I hate and can cause agressive behavior in any breed. My yard is fenced in and I have a dog door to allow for plenty of freedom. The cousin of the boy is working with PETA, that is based in nearby Norfolk, to get a law passed that restricts chaining to no more than three hours a day. I provided a link if anybody cares to read the story. I think this is long overdue! I know there are many dog lovers here, so i wanted to share this with you guys!http://www.wavy.com/Global/story.asp?S=5773702

I agree, it's about time PETA did something helpful, I don't know it the owner will do it though I never like the idea of chaining up your pet or putting them in cages.

honestly, i doubt they would be able to pass such a law. sad to say, is PETA gonna pay for my fence to be installed?? Because if they are not, then we have to do what we have to do since we can't let the dogs just run around loose. pet ownership is a privilege and not a right (imo) so if you can't commit to your animal, then don't get one or get rid of it. also, sounds like those people didn't socialize the dog or have it get used to others, that could also be part of the problem. then again, there are some dogs that are just mean (not necesarily the breed, but the dog- just like people). i've known good people who've cared and loved their pets, but got that one dog that just was terrible or too agressive no matter what they tried. ended up biting one of their kids and they had to put it down.
