When I do a cold start the engine makes a shhhhhhh noise, That sounds like metal rubbing against each other. After the car warms up its gone. It can be heard thru my air intake & I think that a filter mag may of cut down the noise a bit.Anyone know what it is or how to get rid of it?

I have a hissing noise when I start my car too but its because I have a cold air intake. I did notice in cold starts my car had a "sucking" sound or the intake was sort of loud. do you have a aftermarket intake or filter? unless someone else knows, try recording it and posting it up?

I have a short ram and it does the same thing. It's nothing to worry about.

Update:Fixed. Not sure exactly how but the most notable changes I made was switching to w20 Mobile 1 & using oil filter magnets.

Same thing now happening to my car only when cold start. Temp. in morning in ON is about 10 degrees Cel. 2009 Vibe Auto 1.8L 15k km. Strange. Anyone having this issue on 2009/2010 vibes?i do park my car on a slight slope 5 degrees, and engine part is lowered. That might be the cause but I dought it.
