Chevrolet is showcasing two hydrogen fuel cell models, the Sequel and Equinox Fuel Cell, at the show. The driveable, hydrogen fuel cell-powered Sequel concept vehicle is the most technologically advanced automobile ever built. It uses clean, renewable hydrogen as a fuel and emits only water vapor. The Equinox Fuel Cell is also powered by a hydrogen fuel cell.

Interesting vehicles. Let's hope that someday that fuel cells or batteries/electric vehicles will "cure" us of our oil addiction.GM could do wonders for it's image (and its pocketbook) if it pursues these technologies in the right fashion.

There is many details that need to be worked out. I performed an audit of the GM Fuel Cell program at the beginning of 2006. There are the technical issues, and the infrastructure and support issues. Fuel cells will produce less energy over time. Therefore, you will have to have a new fuel cell (like needing a new engine.) What time period is an American going to find acceptable (50k, 100k, 150k miles)? How is the hydrogen infrastructure going to be financed and produced?GM is showing that they can build the vehicle. The remaining details need to be worked out.

I think GM is going in the right direction. I don't have a problem with the "plug in" electric cars. Heck, I'd buy one. My concern would be on how much it would increase demand on the electrical grid which is already overstressed in some parts of the country. Sure it could be beefed up to handle the increased demand, but if we have to produce more electricity to power the vehicles, what source of energy will power the power plants? Fossil fuels? Nuclear? The environmentalists hate both. Just food for thought.

You can buy solar panels, converter, and storage batteries all at Canadian Tire. Granted they are low voltage right now.. but can you imagine.. drive 100k go home plug in the car to your solar powered battery and then an hour later drive another 100k.. good riddens oil..

If I could do that, I'd be in heaven. Then I'd keep a gasoline car for a hobby!
