Anybody else have an AVIC-D2, got some questions about it....

Yep, let me know if anyone has one, I finally got mine installed (yeah, yeah, I'll post pics later! ) and was sadly disappointed to find out it didn't have DVD playback. I want to hook a Silver Slimline PS2 I got to it and was wondering if it's possible. The guys at Best Buy told me you could, but when I was looking through the books it didn't appear to have any RCA hook-ups on it.

The DVD thing was more the idea, and the PS2 is cheap, and I don't want to leave my 360 in the car, and I have another PS2 in my storage in TX. Here's some crappy pics with my cell:

Yeah, the only DVD ROM in the D2 is for reading the NAV discs, no video playback internally. For video, there should be a connection on the back of the unit that has a bunch of RCA cables on it. You need that breakout cable to connect a video source. Look at page 16 of your installation manual.

I didn't know if I had that wiring harness, but if so, then I am good!

Just wanted to let everyone know I got the PS2 hooked up the other day, easy as cake as the RCA were right there and labeled! Still got to figure out some wiring, but it's hooked up and works. Only problem is, where other HUs like this could be bypassed to play video while driving I don't know that this one can. I tried just pulling the E-brake up 1 click and driving as it doesn't initiate anyways, and it worked for a bit but it also has a speedo reader for the guage display on the screen, and I think it is programmed to notice if the video is playing and the car is in motion, so it came up and said my switch had been improperly wired and cut the video display. I know some others have this HU or experience, so if anyone knows a way around this other than disabling the speedo reader, please let me know! Here's some more pics:

After the AVIC N2, the ability to 'bypass' the video interlock was killed. It now senses movement based on the speedo reading and the GPS. There are people who have bypassed it, but you have to really search for it.

I would probably have to disable both of those which I don't want!

Like I said, check around some forums, and I think there're some Yahoo groups about it. I believe there's a way to do it without crippling anything in the unit.
