I guess I didn't know that a factory rack existed. I have been looking for a bike rack for some time. The cheap ones are very flimsy and the good ones are so expensive that I just want to cram the bike in the back! I would be interested in any info as well.

Don't know about the factory racks but I have looked at the Yakima roof rack. It is about $120 for the Lowrider Towers, $52 for the cross bars and then about $80 for each bike tray. I skipped that route and ordered a hitch from Hidden Hitch and when I get that on I'll probably buy a hitch mounted bike rack.

I think that's the way I'll go in the spring. I like that way the hitch racks look rather than on the roof. Easier to get on and off as well.

Just a bit of caution regarding hitch racks...I had one last summer on my Integra. When I was rear-ended, it demolished my bike. So I'm going with the Yakima roof rack on my vibe. If you're going to be doing a lot of transporting, roof racks are definitely the way to go. Hitch racks will mar your bike's finish too.

you can't add after market bike racks to your vibe. unless you buy the Roof Rack Utility Bars (Required) 12498117 $85.00 these make it so it is straight on top. if you just got a bike rack and made it fit on the stock cross bars. the bikes would lean to the side.im going to buy there util bar and get some better yakima bike holders instead.

check here too, they have a kit that will mount to any roof system that works well. I work part time at a bike shop and not only sell but srvice a lot of these systems. Stay away from Thule or Yakima. I prefer Saris systems for roof and hitch mounts. Check out this site though for the roof rack for the vibe. http://www.barrecrafters.com/index.html

Another option is to buy a folding mountain bike that will fit easily inside the VIBE.http://www.montaguebikes.com/
