Ok--Folks --Now I'm going to start a so called poll by asking you what instruments you all play.I played drums in my early years but have always loved the sound of a Pedal Steel Guitar---so guess what-- That is what I now play and really love it . I hope someday to be as good as Buddy Emmons or Lloyd Green , two of Nashville's top Steel Players. Have A Great Day-- James Stewart (Vibe)

Trumpet. From 4th grade through high school where it (the trumpet had the actual tallent) was fortunate to play in the school's perfomance jazz band (Blue Notes). I seem to have inherited some keyboard talent, but another @@shole of a paino instructor disuaded me from wanting lessons. Both my parents were music teachers. One sister teaches vocal music to local middle schoolers. She and two others are "minister of choirs" at their respective churches. I whistle, hum, play drums on my thighs, and exhibit assorted other annoying musical skills as well. And by the way... God speaks through music. At least that's how He speaks to me. I know He's "in the house" when certain music performances send that warm tingling hairs-on-end thrill through my very core. KSNeptune.

Yes, I greatly agree here with you guys and am glad to see that others feel this way about music also. Music was originally created by God as a means of worship and praise that is pleasing to us as well. Judging by a lot of music today, we've tread far off that path. However, I too get those subtle reminders on occasion from Him when I am mentally "nudged" by certain music and feelings associated with it.BTW--I used to play piano for several years until I was discouraged from piano lessons by the instructor I had. All she wanted me to do for 2 years was basic things and never anything fun. I never did the practice exercises she had me do for "homework". Instead, I would hear tunes on the TV or a song I liked on the radio and sit down at the piano and play away until I had it note for note. I was able to teach myself most of the songs from "The Sound of Music" just by ear. Sometimes I would even tinker around for a while and make up my own tunes. I enjoyed playing until about the age of 12 and then the lessons got too boring and ice hockey became too interesting for me. I can still play a little and if I gave it a real chance, I'm sure most of it would come back and I could play things again. I would like to play again one day. And I love going to watch a good symphony presentation every so often. Mozart is among my very favorites. There is something about a live symphony that makes the music even more alive and connect with me on a deeper level. Oh well, for now the only keyboard I'm playing on is the one in front of my computer monitor .

Yes---And not to get off topic here but that is why I have an all vacuum tube sound system that is capable of reproducing just that same sound to perfection and volume. Now back to the topic at hand "Instruments" James

I don't play any insturments now. Throught school though, I played many! In middle school, I played the violin, viola, chelo and bass in our orchestra. Entering high school, I enrolled in band and played the alto saxaphone for two years. They wanted me to go to marching band, and I really didn't have any interest at the time to do that so I ended up not taking band any more. I wish I didn't stop, but oh well. I have considered taking the saxaphone back up again when I get more time.

I played trumpet up to 10th grade in high school, then I switched over to tuba (technically Sousaphone in marching band, and Miraphone in concert band). I also played trumpet in jazz emsemble, and in a short-lived ska band in college called "Lettuce Prey". hahaPete

Been playing keyboards (mostly piano; now have a Yamaha S80 synth) since I was around 5. My abilities probably peaked when I was in my teens; now I usually only play once or twice a week (I play for our church). I've been SLOWLY teaching myself guitar over the past 2-3 years, but I'm not putting enough effort into it to get much better (spending too much time on the other keyboard, y'know, the QWERTY one). Played a little trumpet in HS, but haven't really played since...

After reading thru the thread, I am led to believe that piano instructors are evil! yes... and in the guise of introducing and instructing young people in music,,,they instead, are part of a conspiracy to nullify all aspirations of music among youth..... indeed I was too savy to succomb to this insideous plot during my youth, and henceforth I learned to play the guitar....
