Nice.. well if your going to do, do it right. Good luck with that one. Go to court, ask for the calibration report on the gun, then ask for the calibration report for the calibration tuner used to tune the gun. If they cannot be provided, you can have a good chance of getting off of the the ticket.

I've gotten an 83 in a 65, so I feel your pain, probably to the figure of about $200 or more!

Close here too, 50 in a 35 and it was a school zone.... $350I miss my motorcycle.

NJ's definition of Safe Corridor: Roads with accident and fatality rates above the average may have some of their lengths designated as "Safe Corridor" areas. In these areas, traffic fines are doubled.They really don't do much good, I drive the Turnpike almost every month and the average speed is 80-85mph. I am not exagerating that either, it's nuts. Ragingfish was only 5mph over the normal driving speed.

Basically, if you're nailed in a 65mph zone, it's a double fine. If you're nailed in a safe corridor, it's a double fine. So in the case of the turnpike, either way wouldn't matter, i'm screwed.As to some of the above questions:Yes, I have a radar detector. It wasn't on. But it probably wouldn't have mattered. He claimed to have paced me for about 2 miles before pulling me over. But he DID spot the RD on my glass, and it's presence probably killed any chances I might have had of getting a reduced ticket on the spot or getting let go with just a warning.Construction zones: I have the utmost respect for road crews and ALWAYS obey construction zone speed limits. I'm one of the few - but I do it.As for the fine, that's still unknown. I won't know until either (A) I pay it or (B) i go to court and attempt to have it adjusted/dismissed. NJ does online ticket payment, and it takes a week or more for the ticket to show in the system. So until that shows up, I can't say how much it will hit me. But it couldn't have come at a worse time. Unemployment and unexpected costs such as these are not a good combination.I am working on trying to, at least, get it reduced. Miraculously one of my friends has a good friend who happens to be a statey that patrols the same area of the turnpike where I got nailed. That sucks... Hopefully you can at least get it reduced if nothing else. It sounds like the same story the other guy said..."I paced you for blahblahblah" when you have two witnesses who know that you passed him and he didn't come back up again, and that you were being passed by other cars who would have been much more "lucrative" for him to ticket.

One rule I go by. Always make sure someone is going faster than you. Call it a 'blocking' car.

Yes, there is a price for youthful exuberance.I paid it with ticket/fines, drivers license points, attendance at a state-mandated driver improvement course, and increased insurance rates for years. My insurance rates finally decreased only when I went to work for an insurance company and could get preferred rates and an employee discount.BTW: Eventually I slowed down, but not until after my last ticket -- 6 years AFTER I went to work at the insurance company!

I was cruising home one day just staying with traffic. I sped up a little to get around a semi cause my exit was coming up. I had 5 cars all on my (removed). Well folks, today was judgement day.After working numerous connections, I managed to get legal representation (pro-bono thank god!), and managed to find someone who knew someone who knew someone who knew someone who knew the officer who nailed me.In any case, the prosecutor agreed to reduce the violation to a 0 point "unsafe driving" charge. This is my second one. I got another one in 2005, after having yet ANOTHER speeding ticket knocked down. In NJ, you can have 2 "unsafe driving" charges in 5 years. If you get nailed a 3rd time, it's automatically 5 points, and possible license suspension.So I got 0 points...BUT...the fine: $442. VERY painful for someone who's got no income. Still, though, even the judge said, if it weren't for my lawyer -- who knew the judge well -- I would've probably had my license suspended, and the fines woulda been 10 times worse.Thank god for small miracles!Now if I could just fix the part of my head that is addicted to speeding!!!!

well, you lucked out. take this as a lesson! leave the speeding for the track where it's safe and LEGAL! 2 of the guys at our last auto-x event got nailed for street racing $300+ tickets and 10 pts, with mandatory court appearance. they lost their cases. be lucky it's only a fine you are paying and not hitting someone, causing an accident, or anyone getting hurt (including yourself).

Maybe that's my problem. Maybe I SHOULD find a group to hit the track with, so I can get it outta my system somewhere...Something to look into...

Yikes!You're FAST girl!Sadly, they're based up in northern NJ, well over an hour from me. I'm within relatively moderate distance of englishtown raceway, however, which is one of the biggest tracks in the area, so I'm sure there are other groups around.

If it helps, my buddy back in 1999, got a ticket in Tenn for 113 in a 70. That was before the whole "steer racing" craze the cops ahve been on for the last 4-5 years, but it still hurt. We couldn't argue it at all though, cause we were racing a RX-7 and before the cop we were doing 140. The odd part was, we were going so fast we got pulled over about 6 miles after the cop clocked us by a different cop. Like they say, you can't outrun the radios....Glad things are ok with you and you didn't loose your license or your life. I am still hurting from all my "fast days", my insurance is still almost $200 a month. Hopefully next year that will go down some.

^^ X10Even if your not married.... I love adrenaline, but im in CALI so it would hurt my wallet more then other states.Sigh

i slowed down after my ticket in May. thank god the officer DIDN'T clock us, because i know a few times, i looked down and i was deccelerating at 120 mph! he got us for passing on a double yellow, and i got lucky that i could take the defensive drivers course and waive the fee and points. however, that taught me that i (we- all 3 vehicles caravaning) could have caused some accidents. and at 120+ mph, someone would have certainly died no doubt. it's just not worth it. also, luckily there is a drag strip and we have gotten into solo II this past year that i can get my need for speed out of my system in a relatively safe and LEGAL way.

Next summer I hope to be able to have something that can go 120 lol... and will certainly need track days to work out the need for speed.

Do what I do for kicks behind the wheel: Drive for optimum fuel efficiency. You won't arrive that much later to your destination. If you drive slow, doing the speed limit or maybe ~5 MPH below, it's quite a rush! The many close encounters with suzie soccermom where she barrels down on you in her monstrosity of an SUV doing 20 MPH+ faster than what you're doing - if that ain't a buzz, I don't know what is! And the fact that you're putting along at the posted speed limit and how much that is pissing off those around you, you can't beat that feeling! Screw racing, try the race for survivial and exceptional fuel mileage. I just got back from TN, ended up with 39.5 MPG on the way back and 40 on the way down. But we value your presence here on the board and in real life, so I guess given your state of residence, I can't honestly say I'd like you to try the crap that I can get away with here. It may not be a wise choice considering the number of people in your area, the number of aggressive people, and well, the number of aggressive drivers.

doing something like that (if you have the wrong person behind you) will get you killed or shot. plenty of road rage incidents here.... and we are allowed to carry and conceal weapons without a permit. sometimes i drive for fuel economy, and sometimes i don't. i like it to average out when all is said and done though, no tickets, no accidents, and enough gas for the next trip!
