ha ha! laugh ladies laugh!ok, i am just drooling over the thought of getting a custom catback made for my maxx. i pose a question to all you people who actually know what you are talking about:what size piping should i get? i have a 3.5L V6. i am thinking 2.5, but am not sure. should i go bigger?

Measure your existing pipe diameter and go 1/4" larger with mandrel bends if possible. That should be more than enough if you are staying N/A.

The FlowMaster catalog shows 2.5" single or 2.0" dual for an engine making +/- 200 HP and 200-250 CID (3.5L = 214 CID). These are guidelines, not absolutes.

i would agree 2.5" should be perfect.

ok, i thought so. what i plan on doing though, is getting a the side mounted flomaster for camaros and firebirds, which is side mounted and single in/dual out. how big should my outs be? 2"?

yeah im sure a dual 2" or single 2.5" would be more than enough on most smaller standard displacement engines they dont flow enough air for the piping to play any major role in power most of your gains are from the bends and from the muffler and cats. i can tell you i have a 94 ram with a built 340 stroker that put down 385hp @ 5500rpm and 435pdft @ 3000rpm at the wheels and i only run dual 2.5" pipes but they are short and come out under the doors with no cats and race mufflers.

i'm not doing true dual though, the duals will only be after the muffler. i'm sure the exhaust shop will have sound advice as well.

bump!got it done this past saturday: 2.5" starting after the cat going into a flowmaster 80 series with 2 slant cut rolled edge tips. looks good, sounds like a beast, especially in the lower RPMs. nice gain in low end torque.

You'll have to get a sound clip for us. Congrats on the new custom catback.
