I went ahead and bought new speakers for my car...the Dual Illuminites like nascar..... however i got 4 - 6.5 and 2 - 6x9. the 6.5s are going to replace the stock ones and i'm planning on putting the two 6x9's on the sides in the rear where the two storage compartments are. I got these speakershttp://www.thetwistergroup.com....htmlhttp://www.thetwistergroup.com....html

Great! I've been thinking of doing the same, but there are a few other mods higher on the list.Let us know how they sound! (I might just move it up the list )p.s. is that the right size or does the hole have to be cut bigger to mount them?

the doors are 6.5 but you would have to cut the screen out..the 6x9's will have to be custom made

Cool! I have always loved cole's speakers. You should do a how-to for wiring up the leds. So, I know what to do when I am ready to do mine. lol. Nice price on the speakers also.

So the only thing that has to be done is cutting the stock screen out of the door panel? How complicated is that? Any recommended techniques? Or does it even CUT out?Would it be possible to mount the speakers with the stock grille?I'm still thinking about the 6x9s. I could install them in the custom hard cargo cover I'm in the process of making. That's a great price. The stock counter online says they have 3 pairs of the 6.5" round ones left and 14 pairs of the 6x9". I'm getting 2 pairs of the 6.5 tonight. *ORDERED*How hard would it be to install a switch to turn them on/off?I could get a blank panel like the ones to the left of the steering wheel, swap out the "coin holder" on the console under the brake lever, and mount a switch there. That would control all internal neon/led and the speaker lights... Bad (removed)!

Looking at my last post I can kick back and laugh at myself. I swear I didn't see this before. I searched for his topics and found THIS THREADI'm still interested to know how he got the power from the interior to the door without it looking half-done (hanging out when you open the door).

are these the ones you bought or a different model?http://www.thetwistergroup.com....htmlI was wondering how you hid the power wires from the 12v to the lighting elements of the illuminites. Did you drill through the metal or go under the moulding? My main concern is being able to hide the power wires so they don't hang out in the interior. Also, have you had any problems with window clearance in front?Did you try using the manufacturer-supplied grilles to see if the sound was better than with the stock mesh ones? I do like the idea of more coverage (better protection) of the speaker cones.Last question for now . Did you use the OEM spacer? I'm worried about the door panel fitting back on.I'm also going to hardwire some interior neons and led bars to the same switch. That's the perfect place for it, and so convenient right next to the power source!*edit* DOES ANYTHING NEED TO BE DISCONNECTED BEFORE INSTALLATION BEGINS??? I don't want the airbags going off or anything like that.

BestBuy.com sells them... $51.99/pairTheTwisterGroup.com... $31.12/pairThe speakers are 4-ohm impedance so they'll work with the Vibe's stock HU.Best Buy also quotes installation for a set of speakers at $32.99 to 41.99. Just think of the money you'll save NOT going through Best Buy. But I can't help but wonder, would they install the power for the lights too, since they're IllumiNITEs? OTW it's completely pointless to get them professionally installed. I'm just wondering if I should have them do the front ones so I don't have to destroy the stock speakers. Can you say resale?

Did you drill through the metal or go under the moulding? My main concern is being able to hide the power wires so they don't hang out in the interior.-i ran the wires from the speaker thru the little hose thing coneting to the door and the body and ran them down the door line and under the seats to the outlet. Also, have you had any problems with window clearance in front?-no i used the original bracket(you have to clip away the things holding the stock speaker in place, yes you have to destroy the fron speakers)Did you try using the manufacturer-supplied grilles to see if the sound was better than with the stock mesh ones? I do like the idea of more coverage (better protection) of the speaker cones.- no i still have the grills in their box. i liked the look of not messing with the door grills.Last question for now . Did you use the OEM spacer? I'm worried about the door panel fitting back on.- yes but i only used the spacers on the rear. but still there has been no problem with clearance with or with out those spacers.I'm also going to hardwire some interior neons and led bars to the same switch. That's the perfect place for it, and so convenient right next to the power source!*edit* DOES ANYTHING NEED TO BE DISCONNECTED BEFORE INSTALLATION BEGINS??? I am wondering how they fit with the front windows. I remember reading the thread about how most speakers had troubles in the front with the windows. Let us know. Also, as a side note, since you are a Nascar Xpert..... who is your driver?

They do look cool, but I can't help but be skeptical on a speaker that only costs $32? Even a base decent pair of Infinity Reference cost $100 for the pair.

I just want to know about the 6x9's in the cargo area, that is a great Idea... The back door speakers do almost nothing in my Vibe, so I thought why not just by-pass them all together, and put some bigger ones in the cargo area?Basically, I don't like the idea of tearing apart the doors and cutting away at that area... but I guess I would have to cut into the cargo area either way, huh?
