Air Bag Warning Light - Now you see it....Now you don't

The Air Bag Warning Light has been intermittently going on and off the past couple of weeks. I finally had the opportunity to bring the car in today. The Tech retrieved a code B1844. They didn't have the part in stock (I believe he said it was the Passenger Side Air Bag Module) so they will call me back when they get it in sometime next week. This is my first warranty issue.

well, I guess that is what warranties are for, although it would be ideal to have a lifetime warranty and never need it.

Update! As it turned out. The Tech reset or removed the stored codes and the Air Bag light went out, It didn't come back until a few weeks ago and that's when the Air Bag light started playing hide and go seek again. I brought it back to the Dealer Service and this time they pulled codes P1820 and P1821, Left Seat Deployment Module. They ordered a new seat (P/N 88973919 - Unit Price $1,145.12) and I brought it in this morning to have it installed today. I just picked the car up this evening and I hope I don't have any more Air Bag issues. I CERTAINLY don't want to find out if they actually work!

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Nothing worse than an airbag that goes off when you don't want it to or not going off when it should. Not good either way.

Was that $1,145 just for one seat?

God bless those little warranty papers. I can't imagine paying $1100 for something like that. But it's one of those saftey features that you need.

And that would not include the labor to take the amp (I think that's what is at the bottom of the seat) off and install it on the new seat. Can you imagine what a Leather Seat would retail for??? Life (and car seats) was so simple a "few" years ago.

Hey Ol' TimerI hope your problem is not the same as mine. See post labled "Passeger Air Bag Problem". They originaly told me it was the passeger bag but it turned out to really be the curtain bag module. Difference is when my air bag light came on it stayed on. Funny how two different diagnosis attempts resulted in different return codes. No idea what my return codes were. I didn't think to ask.Good luck

When I originally took it in they retrieved a B1844 code and I thought he said it was the Passenger A/B Module (but he didn't specifically say WHICH Passenger A/B Module). The latest were two new codes that pointed to the Driver's Seat A/B Module. As you know, per my signature, I have the side curtain air bags as well, so your problem has lingered in the back of my mind as well. But, for now, I'll have to assume they resolved my issue. I'll just sit tight for the next few months and see if that Air Bag light doesn't glow RED when I'm driving. Let me/us know if/when your problem is FINALLY resolved.
