Factory Supercharged Corvette

I just read this on one of my favorite web sites,"AUTOEXTREMIST"GM's high-performance troops are having a terrible time keeping a lid on the fact that there will be a higher-end Corvette slotting above the Z06, which will likely set the European-dominated super car establishment on its ear. The upcoming Corvette super car, which formerly went by the code name "Blue Devil," will be even lighter than the current Z06 - said to be in the range of 2800-2850 pounds. Boasting in the neighborhood of 680HP from a supercharged aluminum V-8, the super 'Vette should establish new benchmarks in the high performance-per-dollar equation. A final name hasn't been selected as of yet, but names such as "Sting Ray," "SS" and "Grand Sport" are currently under consideration. The new Ultimate Corvette will cost right around $100,000 by the time it makes its debut in 2008, and it will be severely limited in its availability. It is also rumored that buyers will be required to take a high-performance driving course at an approved driving school before Chevrolet will allow them to take delivery.

This one will just get you there quicker what I think is so screwy is a $60k Vette can keep up with a Ford GT & Ferrari Enzo (based on a Motor Trend article)So I just wonder what this beast is capable of?

Thrown in jail? HA! What could catch you? lol! j/kI think I could control myself enough knowing that there are always tracks to be tackled I'm pretty sure I'd leave a pair of nice black tire-tracks as I exited the dealer's lot, tho

I highly doubt that gm would release it with that hood tumor. That lump is probably there because there was no room for the supercharger under the stock hood. Its only temporary.

Wish I had the extra money sitting around for one! My car is fast enough and with the Mich roads around here being so poor, how fast can I really go on them?

Quote, originally posted by VforVIBE »Oh come on, it's just an over streched, ugly vett wanna be.Are you serious? Because if im not mistaken, the S7 has had its body design WAY longer than the LS7 Z06. Its only got a Rear Engine V8 7.0L twin turbo in which both are ball-bearing. Pushing 700hp with 750ft tq. 0 - 60 in less than 3 seconds. 0 - 100 in 5.9seconds. 0 - 100 - 0 in 11.2 seconds in which is quick as hell. And it does the 1/4 mile in about 10.5seconds. And I don't know how the hell the LS7 Z06 could keep up with the Enzo ... especially when it does high 10s and the Z06 does mid to high 11s. That is why I dont listen to motor trend. Nothing against you though dan

There was a MotorTrend article a while back comparing the Z06, A Ford GT, & the Enzo. The Z06 kept up with the other two and can break the 200mph mark. A $60,000 car rubbing fenders with $150,000+ cars good job GM When comparing a vette (the blue devil version) to a S7, the S7 costs 4x as much as the vette.

I really like don't getting into these "its costs less and has the same power" debates. Because for the simple fact, is that if you wanted to, you could spend 100k on a Geo and make it run laps around the vette. Same thing goes for the honda, cavalier, focus, mustang, scion, carolla ... ect. Comparing money vs speed ... doesnt really give people the upper hand on anything, imho.dan

I know if money is no object and you're talking just performance you're right, freakie. In that sense hell yeah the S7 is better but in overall value "bang-for-your-buck" kinda stuff, I'd pick the Z06

I dont know how to drive a stick, though I'd learn to try. But I'm with "VforVibe" ... I wouldn't want to risk rounding out the fly wheel, lol. Ohh, and I do realize that the z06 has ALOT of power, but I dont know why, I'm not partial to it. The engine juse amazes me though And yes ... I would assume that you have a nice house if you have the S7. Also, the Z06 is MSRP as 60k ... but expect to pay atleast 70k due to dealer mark up dan
