I am a newbie to this forum so please bear with me if i don't follow normal topics. I have a 03 Vibe wo moon and tunes and have some mods done. I have a aftermarket kennwood hu and a bazooka bass tube. My question to some of the experts is that my dash lights except for my gauges are all out. I thought that they burned out but my hu started turning off when pressing ATT button and other buttons etc. mode, presets. So I got a little mad the other day on the way home from work and hit the dash and the ac and recirc. lights came back on. So i think it is a short can someone help?

Who did the install? It sounds like they did something wrong.

The installation of the system has been done for 8 months now and no problem. All of a sudden the lights started going out.

It seems like nobody who left it stock has had a problem like this, so I would guess perhaps something with the wiring for the illlumination and the new head unit has deteriorated somehow since the HU install. At least based on the info, that seems to be the only thing out of the ordinary, so it would be a prime suspect. If it was my car, I'd start by taking a look at that HU wiring to make sure that all the connections were still solid and insulated

Try this for diagnosis: Disconnect the Head Unit wiring harnes(es). Then check/replace the illumination fuse. See if the lights return. If they do, then reconnect the HU and see if that affects the lights. Find out if the head unit is causing the lights to go out- which would have to be a fuse taking them all at the same time.
