Gas smell on oil cap?

Hey, got another dumb question for the mechanic's out there. I was readjusting the sticker on my Injen oil cap so it is level with the engine (cold weather i guess), and noticed a definate gasoline smell from it. Is that normal? Can the sub-zero temp outside affect the rings to cause this? It is due for an oil change LAST week, if that helps.And don't laugh at me (not to hard at least), I'm not a mechanic.
