Have you been pulled over in your Vibe?

Well, it finally happened tonight. Me and my vibe got our arses pulled over! Just curious to see who has been pulled over, who got out of tickets, who got them reduced, and who are SOL and have to pay them! Thankfully, the police officer gave me a small harmless infraction. But it could've been SO much worse! And nope, he didn't comment or compliment me on the car. Oh well.

I am really trying to avoid doing anything to be pulled over right now. My record is now clean and I am looking forward to my rates being reduced.Sad he didn't acknowledge the car. I think he should have!

Almost!!! I was traveling on the Interstate and a State Tropper put his radar on me while he was traveling the opposite direction. I have never seen a Trooper pull a U-Turn so fast. I'm glad my radar detector picked up his gun. While he was doing his U-turn, I downshifted and was able to drop the car 25 miles per hour before he pulled up behind me with his lights flashin'. He was frustrated that I was 5 miles under the speed limit , the Tropper almost hit my car when he was changing lanes. He pulled up behind another car that was travleing right behind me when he hit me with the radar. He was sooo pissed . He then went into the median again and was looking at his equipment to see if it was working. I got lucky!!! I was goin 90mph in a 70mph. LOL

For you salsa and lava owners, be careful -- studies show red vehicles are pulled over more often than any other color. When the yellow vibe comes out, that will also be a prime target.Yeah, this was my first time in the vibe -- I was doing 82 in a 65 (we don't have higher than 65 zones around here ), but I sounded really scared (which I was, can't afford those Jersey insurance rates as it is!), so he let me off with a small fine, no points, no insurance penalites.Bless him!

Yep, got pulled over for a "rolling-stop" and got out of it because of a "clean record" knock on wood

A motorcycle cop had just pulled over a red Porsche after it had run a stop sign. "May I see your driver's license and registration please?" "What's the problem, officer?" "You just ran that stop sign back there." "Oh come on, pal, there wasn't a car within miles of me." "Nevertheless sir, you are required to come to a complete stop, look both ways, and proceed with caution." "You gotta be kidding me!" "It's no joke, sir." "Look, I slowed down almost to a complete stop, saw no one within twenty miles, and proceeded with caution." "That's beside the point, sir. You are supposed to come to a complete stop, and you didn't. Now if I may see your license and..." "You've got a lot of time on your hands, pal. What's the matter, all the doughnut shops closed?" "Sir, I'll overlook that last comment. Let me see your license and registration immediately." "I will, if you can tell me the difference between slowing down and coming to a complete stop." The policeman had enough. "Sir, I can do better than that." He opened the car door, dragged the rude motorist out, and proceeded to methodically beat him over the head with his nightstick. "Now sir, would you like for me to slow down or come to a complete stop?"

I think I was the first Vibe owner to get a ticket in WI. And by a State Trooper of all people. With my Fire/Rescue plates I usually get away with a lot of stuff from the county sheriff deputies and the local city cops. It also helps to know most of them on a professional level. But the state troopers will nail ya every time. It was sorta funny trying to explain what my car was. He never saw one before, and on the ticket all he wrote was Pontiac/4-door for make and model. Then a few days later some A-hoe dumped a pumkin on my car while I was returning movies. I called the police to make a report and this cop thought my Vibe was an Aztec. I showed him the door badge where it clearly says Vibe, but he still thought that it was an Aztec but Pontiac changed the name to Vibe. I guess Barney Fife lives here.

What a timely question. Just mailed in my $75 fine today to the state of Wyoming. I was on US HWY 287 and got clocked at 80MPH in 65MPH zone. Cop said about 3 words and handed me a ticket. He did ask me year the vehicle was. First ticket in 8 years.

This is my first warning/ticket in the Vibe...had two prior tickets on my Sunfire...one was dismissed, the second knocked down to a non-moving violation. Man I've been lucky!!

quote:Almost!!! I was traveling on the Interstate and a State Tropper put his radar on me while he was traveling the opposite direction.......... I got "lucky" in Florida also. The multi lane traffic was very heavy around Naples and the troopers had a 5 officers working together on the traffic. One to take pictures on radar (or laser who knows) and four cars to receive the information and take down the speeders. The other four officers were all on the side of the road writing people up. Very cool setup. I was travelling with dozens of cars all going about 78 mph so I don't know how they were picking out people out of the crowd. No one could go any faster because the traffic was so heavy so they may have been writing tickets for 80 mph, just choosing a victim at random. I went through many a speed trap at 75-78 mph in a 70 zone so I guess they wait for bigger fish than me. When I was young and driving alone I used to speed 15 to 20 mph over, but now I travel with my lady I have a lot more patience. The road never seems as long when you have good company

Any Radar Made in the USA or ASIA is completely useless against Spectre RDD (Radar detector DETECTOR) they will know you are loaded and the will clock and fine you accordingly.......Thanks t6o AUSTRALIANCounter Measures, also if they are clocking you with Lasers, you are also toast and dont stand a chance with the Technology they have!......for more Info read the stuff on this link, it has interesting reading material, for motorists that like the gadgetry....like myself! http://www.speedzones.com/http://www.ra ... rep10.html

It's virtually impossible to keep up with radar technology. Apparantly the staties in NJ are using a new light speed detection technology, which can't be jammed, and can't be detected, and can pick out the car buried most deeply in a pack...i don't waste money on detectors cause if they DO work, it seems rare, and when they don't, i know cops won't even THINK of giving you a break if they spot you using one...

well what a day for me yesterday i was driving down the freeway in cali on my way home for work and all of the sudden a highway patrol officer pulled me over for no lisence plate but if was a new car. then he looked at my registration from the dealer ship and it expired that same day so then he wrote me up for an expired registration then to make it worse it was my 3rd ticket within a years time so he suspended my lisence, then on top of that my windows where tinted so what i was written up for wasno lisence platesexpired registrationtinted windows and i dont want to forget this one being loweredand i got my lisence suspended so now the vibe is grounded till this is taken care of. I hate cops i was not even speeding or nothing i was going 60 in the slow lane he just picked me out of the crowd , and i know this because there was a lot of traffic. but anyways just thought i would share.

quote: a highway patrol officer pulled me over for no licence plate He didn't pull you over for no reason. He pulled you over for not having a license plate displayed. Even with a new car, the dealers (at least here in Kansas) have to issue a 30 day temporary tag you must keep displayed on your car until you get a standard plate. Now I'm not a big fan of police in general either, but the person you should be irritated at is yourself. You screwed up. You didn't display a tag. You let the temporary registration expire. Take responsibility for your own actions and maybe you'll get back legally on the road someday. Refuse to, and I'm thankful to the highway patrol for pulling you over and shutting you down.KSNeptune.

in cali the temp registration is good for 90 days and if you read the post you will see what i had written. the registration expired that same day i got pulled over it was just a bad day in general.

Yeah, but dude, come on. An expired reg is an expired reg, and despite whatever reason he pulled you over, depending on how you interacted with him, and the kind of person he is, he's gonna fish and nail your (removed) every way he can. I always sound innocent and frightenede with i get pulled over, and it always gets me a lesser charge. but you need to be careful too...don't do stuff that's illegal, like tinting...you're just asking for trouble. i wanna tint, but i've been told it's illegal, and as much as i need and want tinting, i'm not gonna risk getting myself hung out to dry next time i get pulled over

you might have a little pity if you were pulled over on your way to the dmv to ditch the temp tags and get plates.....but i dont think ya were....now as for the tint.....well it looks cool but street car or show car you decide....one or the other

i dunno how things work in other states, but in NJ your reg is sent in the mail within 2 weeks (temps are good for 30 days), plates sent to the dealer in about the same...if you don't get them by the end of 3, it's common knowledge here you are to call DMV and find out what's going on...

From my experience (whether is makes a difference or not...) I seem to get all my tickets in 4 cylinder cars, never once in a 6 cylinder. Just my two cents.

That's an interesting theory...I have only got tickets in two cars, my sunfire (2 of them) and my vibe (1)...both were 4 cylinders...but i don't think i've been on the road and driving long enough to make it a solid theory.

quote:off topic but, Did you like your sunfire? I've been looking at a few lately...I LOVED my Sunfire. It was my baby. Crazy as it sounds, it was emotionally tragic for me when I lost her. *sniff*I had my usual issues with it, as I have had with all Pontiacs...it wasn't well built, screws randomly came loose, it had squeaks, and the paint job wasn't very durable...but I did love the car, and how it made me feel. It had always been my dream to get a sunfire since it first arrived on the scene in the mid-90's....by the time i got to get one, it was even better!I don't love what they did with the 03's...I don't like this "wedge" shape that they're pushing now...but I test drove one when I test drove the vibe...it definitely has a nicer engine than mine did...and with XM as an option, it definitely looks nice. The interior was a bit more spacious up front, but in back it still was tight. the interior look though is much nicer...resembles a grand am a bit...the new headlights are much better than the former sealed-beam version: they're plain old standalone bulbs, so they can also be replaced with some schweet SilverStars ;-)...the A/C on my 02 was weak...and i had the repair guys check it out, they said it was just the nature of using an aluminum compressor (or some BS like that)...but it was basically poor design...on the 03 I hear they fixed that problem.be wary: the sunfire has VERY LITTLE cargo space...I had to move into college, I put like two boxes in the trunk, and two in the back seat, and I was full. Safety: The 03 sunfire got horrid safety ratings. But, in Pontiac's defense, my 02 sunfire saved my life...the front of the car was annihilated when I had my accident, but there was minimal intrusion into the passenger cabin...and the 03 has the OnStar option, which is very nice...it notifies OnStar automatically in the event of airbag deployment...something I would like to see on the vibe...Overall, would I buy one again? Definitely...as long as Pontiac doesn't let it fall by the wayside, and they seriously look to improve it's safety (safety is CRUCIAL to me after my accident, obviously...which is a large reason for going with the Vibe). UPDATE: after reading up some more on the sunfire, it looks as if GM is going to update the Lordstown Ohio plant in late 03/04 and give the sunfire and cavalier new frames and chassis. If that helps their up the rating of safety, I might seriously consider a go back to the Sunfire (if I can't afford my GTO )Check out some sunfire reviews: Ann Job's 2003 Sunfire Review Daniel Heraud's 2003 Sunfire ReviewConsumer Reports 2003 Sunfire ReviewLet me know if I can answer any specific questions about the car...though it had it's little imperfections, overall, I loved it, and would definitley recommend it!

The ony thing that really bothers me about the vibe is that it's a wagon. I know it's petty...but the one thing I miss from my sunfire most is a trunk. It's nice to throw stuff int he trunk and it's outta sight, outta mind...in the vibe, it's in sight, and in mind. Ya know? But hey, each has it's pros and cons.

Yeah, but it isn't the same. It's still not a trunk. ;-) I took the cover off ages ago and stowed it cause with the cargo nets, it's hard to take advantage of them with that pesky cover in the way...if you put them by the door, it makes it hard to put stuff in back...if you put it in back, you have to try and strecth back to get at it...so i figured, cover, whatever. lol. and i have no tint on any windows, so...
