got bumped.

leaving work today (with my boss in the car) to go pick up some shelves, i backed into another car (who was backing out of a spot behind me, and one over). neither of us saw the other until after the impact. everybody was okay, nobody pointed any fingers. his car (a corolla) got it right on the rear corner. crushed tail light and bent bumper. i got it right in the middle of my bumper, and the damage appears to be purely cosmetic. i guess the other guy got home first, because mine called me as soon as i walked in the door. only, they didn't want a statement. it was the customer service end calling me to arrange repairs and make sure i knew about my rental car reimbursement (two thumbs up for farmer's. if anyone in the austin, tx area wants a referral, i'll be happy to provide one). apparently the auditor that determines fault (i really think it's 50/50) will call me tomorrow.anyway, i've got a question about the "finish" on the '05 monotone vibes. i seem to recall someone here saying that with the '05 or '06's, that GM started "laminating" the plastic bumpers and fender flares rather than painting them. i can't seem to recall the proper term to search for to see what the original statement was regarding, but does anyone know if any old body shop can repair that sort of thing? i would think that applying any sort of laminant to molded plastic like that would require special equipment.
