Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII

ok I know I'm not the only FFVII fan on here so I'll throw this out there. I've been playing this the last few days and even tho most reviews are decent I think it's a great game for any FF fan to at least rent. Nice story and it's neat to see some of the places from VII rendered in modern graphics. Not the best shooter ever but considering Square-Enix hasn't made many (none as far as I know) it's nice. This thread may contain some SPOILERS!

Every review I have seen of it said it sucked. I am not a real FF7 fan per se, but I do like FF. Glad to hear it's not as bad as they've been saying. It looked like a cool game.

A hardcore FPS would probly think it sucked but me being more of a action/rpg fan I'm having fun playing it. You have to like a good story, too b/c there are plenty of cut-scenes which in a way do slow the pace down (like most reviews state) but all-in-all it's a good game

i wonder how many people will never know that the title of that game is a funeral song for a 3 headed dog from hell...

lol, if you want to get specific... it's a funeral hymn sung by the gun that vincent carries

find a copy of VII and play it if you like RPGs. It's old but it's a great story. & since you liked DoC check out FFVII Advent Children. It's an awesome movie that came out eariler this year that has a rough synopsis of the game with it if you don't want to fool with playing VII to get all the back-story.

I'm a HUGE FF7 fan. I went and bought this game because I know I'll play it again. It was a great game, but short... and I would have prefered to play as Cloud Strife and the gang. Personally I would have prefered a remake of FF7 in FF10 graphics. That would be sweet... and rumored but not confirmed. What seemed weird to me was the fact that many bosses face off against several NPC but you end up fighting them later wondering... what was the outcome of that battle since there is no reference to it afterwards? For a game that was suppose to tie up some loose ends, it left just as many if not more.

Yeah I felt they could've had alot more side-story with the other characters. I know it's Vincents story but hell Cid had a bigger part than Cloud! lol, the tides have turned... At least had a AI controlled Cloud/Barrett/Yuffie or whoever taging along beside you for a little while. Oh well there's no since in complaining about things that can't change... we'll just have to see what they come out with next.I do love Cid's line "All in a days work" near the end, tho

forget Cid, or Vincent. The game should have been about Cloud. After all he's bad (removed) and a lot more interesting then Vincent will ever be. But thats just me. Cloud is my fav FF character. Back in my nerdier (is that a word?) days I wrote some FF fan fic about him.

I don't agree with the Cloud and nothing but Cloud but I do think the whole oringinal party should've been involved more than they were. but oh well...and yes "nerdier" is a word. I fairly sure my wife has used it before

It should have been at least more character involving. Sure at least not all about Cloud but I would have liked to have controlled him. Say the game mixed levels up a bit... some with combat and use Tifa. Or Cloud for example. And mix it up with Vincent and Barret doing shooting style missions. Maybe even have had a flight combat mission with Cid. And of course toss in Yuffie with some magic stuff. But whats weird is Cloud faces off with Rosso... yet later with no mention of how that battle ends... Rosso just appears later to battle Vincent. Cloud wasn't killed but its not like him to let her just quit a battle. Same with Shelk in the airship when that one fellow shows up and kills the crew. She starts fighting him but later he's a live, so is she and somehow I guess he just got bored and left the airship because it seems to have survived to.Just to many holes.

I just beat DoC last night and started the EXHard mode... I missed one stupid G-Report to get the extra ending you guys are making me want to watch AC again

I think I missed one of the reports to. I did not get the extra ending. Also I missed a lot of those sequence tubes you must find and shoot so you can watch later. Omega apparently has one by his wing during the last battle you need to use the sniper scope to see and shoot I believe.

I missed tons of those too... even the obvious ones b/c I didnt' know you were supposed to shoot them I can see how someone could miss the one on Omega, lol

I didn't know what they were for so I shot one and got a "Saving" window at the top right corner of my screen. I thought it was saving my level progress lol. I'll have to play the game through again and look for more, definatly that last one. BTW I wish we could have turned into Chaos earlier. And maybe it was me but after Rosso took the materia from Vincent's chest I could no longer use my limit breakers.

you should have been able to use Limit Brakers anytime. I used plenty the last few levels.lol, I just wish Chaos would've been able to fly like in the cut-scenes. I think there's more of those capsule thingies in the extra missions, too. happy hunting

power ranger... I was just telling the wife the other day I can't believe that show is still on tv... with new episodes... what the heck? Have you figured out the bonus level stuff yet? I tried the first one but ran out of time before I even figured out were to go. It really frustrated me.

lol, I tried it before I started my new game but I ended up dying... From what I've read some of those extra levels are hellacious but some of them are super easy, too. They are also the only way to unlock anything other than the story mode cut-scenes.

not to go off topic but speaking Prince of Persia. Which one? I bought the first one in a pack when I actually wanted Splinter Cell (#1) as they came together as a 2pac set. I ended up playing and finishing PP the Sand of Time and have not completed splinter cell. I bought PP Warrior Within but never finished it. I got stuck on this one place trying to flee from that monster. I bought The Two Thrones and finished it. Great game. The end battle is very cool, no back tracking or anything. After finishing it I picked up WW again finished it without any probs... don't know what my issue was lol. Great games. Worth playing for sure.back on topic now.

You've been warned since V mentions Reno it makes me wonder why the Turks aren't involved in DoC somehow. Rufus is the guy supplying Reeve with all the cash to support the WRO. Playing cards was fun though I got all of them.

GO SQUALL Wanna know a card trick? each city or area seems to have their own rules and if you accept their rules you'll end up with so many rules that playing and winning a tough game is going to be that much more difficult. Instead refuse the new rules when trying to play a game of cards and keep asking the same person to play but keep refusing until they do not ask you to use their rules. It can take about 10 tries or so. But this way you can keep the rules you want and don't get stuck with horrible rules you don't want and of course if you accept them you end up spreading them to other areas and well you know what happens.Next thing you know your playing a game of cards with random, poison and all other sorts of rules. I like to keep it simple. Play big hands and win all the good cards.

They should have put the card game into FF-X instead of blitzball... tho that would've kinda killed the story a little I'm almost at the end of DoC again. I'm trying to beat the room where you have to defeat 100 enemies but it's kinda tough I tried that 3 times & then got tired of dying so I fired up FF VII

Blitzball was a lot of fun once you got the hang of it. What sucks though is the better your team gets... so do the others.

Mrizzle, I'm assuming you're talking about DoC. What are you stuck at, the Shinra building? Is it something you can't beat?& FFX is a very good game The game itself is decently challenging depending on how much time you spend leveling (it's a lot different in X, tho) but later in the game there are some optional monsters that are way above (stat wise) anything in any previous FF game.

I would recommend FFX to everyone. Its an awsome game from start to finish. I don't remember getting stuck at the train yard. You have to collect keycards to drop gates which can be tough but now I don't remember much else from that area that really stood out. Only I do remember it from FF7. But I thought it would have been crushed by the falling Plates
